  • There's definitely some barriers to entry switching from reddit to lemmy. Even though they are only mildly different, it can be a confusing place after years of using reddit and getting used to the ecosystem there. At least it was for me

  • That's how it's supposed to work, but it never will. It was supposed to be the same on reddit as well, but I can tell you that in more than a decade using the site, most people treated it as a "disagree" button

  • My experience is that people who try to "twist it into their own" are really just trying to make a connection or keep the conversation going. I try not to fault people who do this a bit too much. Often, they are doing their best to navigate life like everyone else is.

  • For me, this falls neatly into the "who fucking cares?" category. These things are deployed in very few cities overall and if the technology is ready for wide-release, you better have a more effective defense against theft than you already do if they are already being stolen from
