  • I'd love that. I don't like a lot of the laws the Liberals have passed, especially the misguided way they tried to tax Facebook and Google to promote Canadian news. It would be great if there were a sane alternative party that actually had ideas for how to do things differently. The current conservatives are focused on culture war BS, lowering taxes while handing more money to corporations, and if Harper's reign was any guide, muzzling scientists and giving away rights Canadians enjoy.

  • See if you can provoke Trump into "Truthing" about making Australia the 52nd state. It did wonders for the left-leaning Liberals in Canada. Your Liberals are right-wing, but they're slɐɹǝqᴉ˥ so I don't know if that makes things work the opposite way or not.

  • This result is so close that it's entirely possible that Trump's "Truth" this morning with his 51st state threat resulted in PP losing his seat.

  • Seems likely, but he's pretty weak now. I assume the knives are going to be out.

  • 1am (EST) and 1 of the 3 major party leaders has lost his seat (Singh). Bruce Fanjoy (LIB) has a 2500 vote lead over Poilievre in Carleton with 68% of the votes counted, so it's looking fairly likely he'll lose too.

I wonder if there has ever been an election where this many parties have changed leaders in such a short span of time. First Trudeau stepping down, then the NDP and Cons both having their leaders lose their seats. The only party leaders who survived the election and kept their seats are Elizabeth May and Yves-François Blanchet.

  • I just hope that this time the small parties can push to get rid of FPTP. This election would have looked so different with any other form of voting.

  • Can you imagine if, at 45 he has to make a resume and try to find a job for the first time?

  • Interesting situation right now at about midnight. 172 needed for a majority, projections say they'll be about 10 short. NDP is projected to get about 10 seats, which might not be enough to bring a Liberal/NDP coalition up to 172. Greens are down to 1 seat, leaving only Conservatives and Bloc Quebecois.

What happens if the Liberals and Conservatives (and Green) can't form a coalition to hit 172. Would the Liberals actually make a coalition with the Bloc Quebecois? What could they agree on? What would the Bloc demand?

  • Wow, you should really call up her family and tell them they're wrong. Those poor fools who knew her and were with her day after day think she committed suicide, but you, some guy on the internet, you know better. They have a right to know! Go call them up and inform them how wrong they are!

  • And suicidal people are always honest about not being suicidal, right?

  • If he resigns, Tesla becomes just another car company. Car companies get a P/E ratio of 7 (if they're well run). Tesla's P/E ratio is above 160. Elon Musk's "genius" leadership is how Tesla investors have convinced themselves that they're not investing in a typical car company. If he goes, the stock tanks. But, then again, if he stays, the stock tanks because he's clearly not a genius, and even if he was he's an evil genius and people don't want to buy cars associated with his brand.
