I am on Mastodon for 5 years now (fuck it is really 5 years since August 2019, what the hell) and just can't get into it. It just feels lonely over there. What am I doing wrong?

Tbh, I think it is the post statistics thing. It says "1 reply", then I click at ot and it has 4 replies and it ALWAYS says "0 favorites" even when 10 people comment how great that post was.

It is probably true though. Speaking to them every day, means looking at them every day and thus seeing problems immediately. Okay, so not true, but still effective.

No idea about the UK. But in Germany a comparable hospital stay (single bed room) would be up to a 1000€ per day afaik. If you are publicly insured in Germany, you'd still easily pay 150€ out of your own pocket (otherwise the rooms have 2-4 beds).

But I already learned in this thread that the costs in the US are far worse.

They are expensive in Europe as well, but most European countries socialize these costs.

Seems plausible. Most of my friends got married or "like-married" between arround 28 and 32, then the divorces happened between arround 35 and 38. Those who survived that wave are still married.

No, I meant that I literally could see people taking a shit when walking in the restrooms at several places, because the walls were just ~180cm high (and I am taller than 180cm).

I hated them, they made me anxious. But much worse were the low stall walls. Why america, why? When I take a shit I want a wall that actually serves the purpose of not having people see me taking a shit.

On another note, the Dutch style toilets were very common in Germany up until the 90s. Rare nowadays. I think they are actually superior. You see it, if you have a problem with your shit and even the largest shit doesn't splash water all over your intimate parts. On the other hand, you have to protect your balls from the large shit, when it goes "timber".

Don't know about the police. I was comparing inside turkey, where there is the Police for urban areas and the Jandarma (Gendarmerie) for rural areas.

It is not really "higher" than police and it is not regular military. The gendarmerie in Turkey is responsible for policing outside cities, they are part of the military, but they are subordinate to the interior ministry during peace times (regular military answers to the defence ministry).
