  • Tbh, today was the first day I realized that people see privacy mode as something else then "privacy from other users on the same browser". But yeah, makes sense that people who learned about the internet on a smartphone see things differently.

  • I think everyone agrees that we leave early 3d games out of our nostalgia.

  • Depends a lot on the games for me. I can spend a lot of time on old games, if they were mechanically well made. But if the controls are clunky (like e.g. in old adventure games) I am out.

  • Yeah, but Arcades are Arcades. They were also not really a thing in Germany (because they are 18+ in Germany). I only ever used them on vacations.

  • Maybe I am old, but having no micro-payment bullshit is what made gaming better.

  • Not really a time waster, but a classic: Lone Wolf Saga

  • A lot.

    Jump
  • Don't know about all those artisan bakeries tbh.

  • Come on guys. Do it, vote for him. No one will lose respect of America, I mean, you guys already voted a psychopathic clown into office before.

  • Whenever I read that joke I get sad. His pictures on the Wiki article from 1990 and from 2000 tells one everything.

(If anyone wonders: Yes, I am great at parties.)

  • What they tried to say is, that Taiwan also considers mainland China to be their rightful territory. Taiwans official name is Republic of China, Mainland China's official name Peoples Republic of China.

Both consider themselves to be the rightful government of the whole China (including both mainland China and Taiwan). Both do not consider the other parties rule to be legitimate.

It really is comparable to Korea or pre-unification Germany. Both governments are united in following the "one China principle".

  • Here in Germany forums are still quite active. I have several forums I actively use.

The thing with forums though, is that they oftentimes end in drama. People really do get to know one another over time on forums and that often leads to meltdowns on a scale you don't have on lemmy or similar pages.

  • This something we cannot bring back: when we were all new to this, it felt so unbelievable. Suddenly we were casually chatting with people thousands of kilometers away, who were of a completely different background. I'll never forget when I (living in Germany with a turkish migration background) was talking to a US based Neonazi who said that he had nothing against turks, but he heard turks where the nxxxers of Germany. I mean, that was not a pleasant conversation, but it was just so unbelievable that this was actually happening. It felt like everything was possible now. I mean back in 2001 I thought "Hey, let's hear the other side" and just went on the talibans website. Just a few years earlier that kind of insight was simply impossible. The internet just felt borderless.

A lot of things were terrible though, like "asl" or when any wrong click could easily land you on a disgusting and deservedly illegal website. Crazy times.

  • I'd just pay The Fun Pimps to get their game out of alpha. Of maybe Savage 3.

  • Nice, but the part in the neighborhood was a little too visible. I saw it while going through the panels already.

  • Dnd beyond as it is now is still very usable without a subscription. But yeah, this will probably change with the next edition.

It is really annoying. Dnd beyond is such a great product, but it will very likely be ruined by the business model soon.

  • My sons will still be my family when they celebrate their 35th birthday... They'll hopefully have their own places, but that doesn't change that they are my family.

  • I knew one once, but she was borderline abused into it by her boyfriend. The same guy made me a linux user. He is quite succesful at that, if only he knew how to take a shower.

  • That used to be fairly common 10-15 years ago.
