  • Took 12 upvotes for the answer. Thank you.

  • Me, I have no idea what this is about.

  • For 200-250$ you can get very decent used compact cameras (like the RX 100). It won't upload the photos immediatly, but it is still pretty much on par with most current cell phones.

  • I managed to almost completly keep my children away from it for now (8 and 10). But it is a struggle. And I will soon lose that struggle. So many children at age 8 or 9 have smartphones for fs sake.

I plan to slowly introduce them to stuff like this, so they will be able to deal with it. I did so rather successfully with the other bullshit, like Roblox. They are only allowed to play it when I am in the room, and I check that they follow that rule (they do).

Feels like walking on the edge though. Still unsure when to open the TikTok thing. Too early is bad, but too late and they will somehow already he on tiktok and I just don't know about it.

  • I hope those people seek further help (just google sucide prevention). Not having a gun is not sufficient suicide prevention.

  • I am not contradicting you, but added my thoughts to your argument. I just started this by summarizing the parts of your argument to which I wanted to add.

  • There have been fascist psychopaths arround as long as humans exist. BUT: when a fascist psychopath gets support among important figures of the industrial and financial sector, that is when you should start to panic.

  • We don't get that here. And if I set up listening over the internet, I got better things than radio. :) Radio is more the "I am too lazy to care" fallback option for very short trips.

But thanks. Might still give it a try.

  • Here in Germany all mainstream radio djs share the same folder with the same 50 songs they play all day long. I hate radio (except some information stations and some local non-commercial stations, so much bullshit, but occasionally pure gold).

  • I hate tiktok. I am not from the US, but banning the app that is most popular among young people while raiding dozens of university campuses? Don't sound like a great way to get young people trust the system...

  • Imagine telling your insurance about your newest purchase.

  • Don you maybe have a mushroom consultation in your town? Don't know where you are from, but in Europe many countries have them and they can help you not to kill yourself.

  • Dumb phone exist. My children got their dumb phones when they started walking to school on their own (so they can call us in case of a problem).

No internet, only 4 harmless games and I can control which numbers are allowed to call them and which numbers they are allowed to call.

  • It lasted almost 50 years and you say "something completely normal"?

  • I'd tip the developers, but not the shareholders or execs who treat the developers like slaves...

  • Depends on whatever psychological profile google has created for you I guess. Currently mine is mostly about exotic guns, because I found that fascinating for a while. I don't own any guns and I am not a supporter of lax gun laws. But google does google things.

  • Didn't say we used to be better. We've always been a shitshow.

  • Fuck. Now I have that "meet the flintstones" song stuck in my head and have to rethink my childhood media consumption at the same time.
