Best you can do is ask some of these content creators to also post their videos to PeerTube.

PeerTube has built-in syncing of YouTube channels, so it’s fairly easy once it’s set up.

What do you mean? It's embedded from Peertube, so you should be able to play the video directly, unless you are using a client that's does not support it.

The software is free, but hardware is not. You could buy an old laptop or even something really cheap, like an Orange Pi Zero.

Yes, he says he's dependent on the ad revenue. However, no one is asking for him to drop YouTube. Also posting on PeerTube will simply have him reach more viewers. It won't move viewers away from YouTube.

If he had hosting costs, that would mean he's hosting his own PeerTube instance, which is definitely something big content creators should be doing. But he could start out with using Tilvids.com (like The Linux Experiment) or another PeerTube instance.

How does he backup his videos today? Wouldn't it make sense if you used your backup solution with your own PeerTube instance?
