  • Melbcat has been crying loudly so I took her to the vet… there wasn’t enough urine to take so her meds have been upped and she’s due for a follow up test.

I eventually got her to come to bed and cuddle but she did a little spew on the sheets. It’s blotted up and covered with a towel for now. I’ve finally got her to settle down a bit so everything can be properly washed later.

  • Glad it helped!

I’m not sure if the skin of the beans will get tough from the stock (as I hear that about cooking them in salt) but the writers of the recipes have probably sorted that out.

Another easy way to eat is crackers and pre cut vegetables with cheese or a protein dip. I’m not able to eat this now but I found a copycat recipe for a Tofutti cream cheese I used to love. Tofu is very cheap and quickly blended. ::: spoiler Metric option

For a no cook dinner you can also mix a tin of tuna with leftover rice then add crumbled nori and sauces. You can also get precooked cups of microwave rice.

If you have the money seriously consider buying some Ensure or protein bars for snacks. Multivitamin tablets. Fortified nutritional yeast or Marmite spread on buttered toast for the B12. (Consider margarine fortified with vitamins A and D.) Individual tubs of yogurt are easy.

Scoop sandwich tuna onto crackers or eat it from the can. Keep tins of chunky soup on hand to heat in the microwave and have fixings for sandwiches. It’s very easy to swipe on some mustard pickles and add a slice of cheese if you tolerate these ingredients.

Another idea is shredded bbq chook and premade coleslaw inside bread rolls.

I’m being so serious right now. If you become malnourished you will enter a downward spiral where you have no energy to take care of yourself or feed yourself.

  • I tried the Cerave tub. It was… fine? A bit mediocre.

Barely noticeable sting which is probably my barrier being compromised. A tiny bit more emollient than the tube, but it’s still very thick and dry. I put on one heaped fingerful and then another trying to get it to moisturise as even a lot doesn’t go very far.

It kind of disappeared leaving a thin waxy residue behind which felt a little stiff and uncomfortable. It feels like you need something more hydrating underneath and this would seal it in.

Honestly I rate the Vaseline Dry Skin Rescue body lotion higher and it’s more economical but my skin suddenly started stinging and breaking out from that when it hadn’t before. (Same bottle.)

  • Oop… hairball on the bed. Thankfully I have a few doonas. I put a cover on a new one ready to swap out fast when she gets up.

Not a fan of these ‘space saver’ bags that don’t stay sealed or compressed. Also they’re large so you have to haul the bulky thing down and dig through. Not really working as intended… maybe I should just divide things into smaller stackable blanket boxes, and sorted in categories.

And declutter… I just wish I could find clothes that fit and are comfortable so I could cull all the ones I keep ‘just in case’.
