  • For the past few years I’ve been perfecting a sort of weird pumpkin pie.

I take a pie pumpkin, core out the inside, then rub it with pumpkin pie species and sugar, then roast the whole thing till tender but not falling apart. Then I make a simple Vanilla egg custard on the stove and poor it in to the pumpkin and put it all to the side to set.

The first year i broke the custard, the second the custard came out perfectly, but I found the flesh to of the pumpkin to be a bit bland, so I’m working on ways to flavor the roasted pumpkin a bit more.

  • And even if moderated, it will display new unique biases, as otherwise unassuming things will get moderated out of the pool by people who take exception to it.

Not to mention the absurd and inhuman mental toll this work will take on the exploited workers forced to sort it.

Like, this is all such a waist of time, effort, and human sanity, for tools of marginal use that are mostly just a gimmick to prop up the numbers for tech bros who have borrowed more money than they can pay back.

  • Yah, I’m really not enthused with the idea of having to pay monthly rent for my computers ability to function.

I wonder if intel just values their existing experience with 86 more than any potential efficiency gains since the efficiency matters a lot less when the whole system is just a glorified screen and antenna.

  • I wonder if intel is betting on increased centralized cloud computing as the way forward for personal computers. So the efficiency benefits of ARM are irrelevant in their minds since they think the real power will come from big data centers.

  • Windows also seems more concerned with going all in on cloud computing, the whole “you will own nothing and like it” paradigm. So making a faster and more efficient mobile platform isn’t probably a high priority for them.

  • The way the value of a wallet is calculated is by the sum of previous transactions. For a transaction to be verified, previous transactions must be summed to show a positive balance larger than the payment. That means all previous transactions made by that wallet are publicly available and linkable.

If they were not, then there would be no way to verify that your wallet had enough value to make a transaction.

If all transactions are linkable to a wallet, than one real world link can be used to link all previous transactions.

    Ergo, not anonymous.

  • All it takes is one transaction on a wallet to be concretely connected to you and then every pervious transaction is clearly linked back to you. And that link does not have to be digital, it can be as simple as you being found in person with an item purchase through the system.

The strength of the encryption and cleverness of the protocols with in the system are irrelevant if there is a public list of transactions.

  • Can the block chain of the system be viewed by anyone? Is the wallet ID listed on the blocks?

It doesn’t matter how many fancy protocols are thrown up. If the history of the block chain is viewable and verifiable, then the history of transactions can be tracked to a wallet. Thus it is not truly anonymous.

  • But you could do that with just about any digital payment system. Crypto doesn’t have anything to do with that. Hell, if you want it to be anonymous use a pre paid gift card you buy with cash.

That’s actually anonymous rather than pseudonymous.

  • It’s really about higher ups ability to control and police their workers, not actual productivity. There is a subset of management that really wants to be able to micromanage and tweak the working environment to “maximize” productivity, or create a “workplace culture” that suits their needs. Many justify their high salaries based on their ability to do so.

It’s also about other elements of control, such as being able to snoop on wether or not employees are trying to unionize, or if they’re looking for new jobs.

Ultimately people working from home undermine the relevance of management and lays bear some pretty damning realities about the effects of management on real productivity. The pay (in all forms) of management has ballooned along side the Financialization of the economy, and the trend of a working from home is a serious threat to these peoples influence and pay potential
