My "YT™ experience" has gotten a lot better ever since I started avoiding it altogether and opted to watch videos through an alternative frontend. I do get a fairly different "popular" feed, but I mostly ignore that and go directly to my subscriptions feed instead.
No, it'd just be giving more incentives for politicians to lie, cheat and steal. If getting a full 100% of the votes means you get to reign for life like a monarch, then the amount of misinformation, buoyed by an industry made infamous by Cambridge Analytica, and aided by PR, Ad agencies, and Facebook, would explode. If that's not enough, politicians can just outright cheat and steal, prevent supporters of their opponent from voting, pervert the existing laws to one's ends, or downright steal the ballot boxes (and tamper with the votes or how they are counted).
It'd magnify the worst of current politics by giving politicians a reward for playing dirty.
I prefer eyeglasses. However, I find contact lenses convenient and flexible (pun unintended). I can move about and do things without much worry with contact lenses on, but not so much with eyeglasses.
On the other hand, it's easy to fall asleep with contact lenses on, which is a dangerous thing. There's also the risk of contact lenses doing damage to one's eye, such as through unclean hands handling contact lenses, improper cleaning, leaving contact lenses on for too long, or dust particles getting stuck between the contact lens and one's cornea.
Eyeglasses might not be as convenient as contact lenses, but it's a lot safer. It's also a good backup when one can't use contact lenses for some reason.
Facebook, aka Meta, is cancer. The best way of dealing with cancer is eliminating them at their roots.
Failing that, excising cancerous tissue before it metatasizes is common sense. Even if it's ultimately benign (which I doubt, given their track record), given the dangers that inaction would cause, it's best to preemptively exorcise it out of the Fediverse.
This is what I recommend for Linux newbs. And they can stay with it if they're happy with it. It's also a decently competent Linux distribution which is a hell of a bonus.
To be fair, the fact that Arch makes very few choices for us users is one reason, perhaps the biggest reason, I was hesitant jumping in at the start. A well-meaning friend pushed me off the ledge of hesitation and into the thick of things. Did I feel nervous? Hell yes! But was it worth the frayed nerves? I guess it is.
I use Arch. I use the command-line to update, I am very glad that I can do the updates when I do want them. Of course, going over the update list is my responsibility, but such is the power my OS grants me—I can make or break things.
Otherwise, yeah, it's the customization it offers me. I can make it as janky as I want it to be, or rice it to my heart's content.
I bought a big pack of msg from the Asian supermarket and use it instead of normal salt for many things. My partner and I call it wonder salt.
I hear the voices of my ancestors cry in confusion.
But seriously speaking, I've never encountered MSG being used in place of salt. We use it here to give food more of that nondescript meaty taste (aka umami).
Personally, if I need both salty and umami tastes I'd reach for soy or fish sauce first (depending on what's being cooked). I'd only add MSG and/or salt if I really have to—usually to make minute adjustments.
Coldest is probably around 20°C (but it feels a lot colder due to fog and wind).
Hottest is roughly 35°C (feels a lot hotter due to humidity and lack of wind).
I haven't traveled far though, and never outside the country.
