  • Well, if that's how it works, every country now needs to renames the US to something else on their maps. Whoever has the best name wins something - like, the Olympics or free membership to the UN.

Suggestions now open, I'll start: "Little Girls Blouse"

  • MS know who butters their bread. Businesses get given the tools to control windows properly. Even without needing to resort to LTSC versions, domain joined with group policy, you can manage all the shitty parts of windows to make it behave as you wish - even down to control over when you receive the updates

  • Good point - my thought is to go through that pain now while I'm still learning to use Linux properly. I'm not tied into anything yet so I can always swap something out if it doesn't play with Wayland and gets too troublesome.

  • Began moving all my hardware to Linux this year since none of them will run win11 without fk-about-ing - and I just don't want to. So my server, media box and laptop are all cut over, only my main desktop left on windows a bit longer but it's goose is cooked too.

I've tried dozens of distros over the years but I've settled on Fedora KDE.

    The why:

    • Skipping x11 and head straight into Wayland so I don't have to worry about that in the future.
    • I wanted something more up to date than debian-based and less cutting edge then Arch-based.
    • Stability and support of being in the RHEL family
    • Flatpaks
    • Tried to get on with gnome to get away from the 'start menu' paradigm but ended up getting on with kde better.
  • Not OP but I suspect they mean adults that struggle with normal technology but thrive on ipads (can remember the button they use to open sodoku)

Nothing at all wrong with making technology easy to use for the masses, but this can create problems.

  • I'm calling it now: Putin has abandoned Trump.

Since Kamala has come along and and stole all his thunder by being... normal, Trump has lost the plot, but the last two weeks are on a whole new level.

I believe that Putin is cutting his losses and has walked away from this dumpster fire. This is what's causing Trump's (even more) unusual behavior. Sure, he's old and demented but the stress of losing his backing force has been weighing on him.

He's stressed about what happens to him now. Without the backing of Daddy, if he loses, there is a good chance he's finally held to account for his crimes. If he's not, does Putin finally wield what he's got over Trump to destroy him as punishment for failing?

But, don't consider this job done. Trump still pulled it out in 2016 after being written-off in the polls. The only chance you crazy, freedom-loving Americans have is to vote. Vote like there is no tomorrow because imagine what terrible revenge Trump would be capable of, if he does get into power now after being so badly burnt!

  • I heard from a reliable source that "they" also have a functional gender-swap ray gun - it was actually a happy accident they stumbled upon when they were trying to develop the weather control gun.

It's quick, effective and eliminates the need for messy surgery and hormones that magas can ban.

They have already targeted the majority of the right wing figureheads in the media and the maga party. Jones, Hannity, MTG, Shapiro, Musk and many, many more. They've all been gender swapped and are desperately trying to keep this hidden from their supporters.

If you see strange behavior, nonsensical ramblings or angry tirades, this is one of the side-effects as their mind struggles with the sudden gender change.

  • Can I assume by that comment that you're also a self-made millionaire?

No? Oh, why are you so lazy? After all, it just requires hard work. There are over a thousand self-made millionaires in my small town alone. The media call us a "statistical anomaly" but they just don't see how easy it is if you just put down your 9-5 and get to work.

    /s

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe that hard work can get you there but it is very, very uncommon. I work bloody hard, have a good paying job, no debt and investments but will only have enough for an ok retirement.

Friends with their own business who are more driven, work even harder and longer than I do and are absolutely better off, but they'll never earn the level of money like this article suggests.

My issue is with the disingenuousness of the article. This sort of success requires a huge amount of work, a once in the lifetime (for most people) idea or market to kickstart and even then often still requires a bucket of 7-leaf clover levels of luck. But it's sold by the media as others have detailed "if you just work harder..."
