  • Damn, opinions changing and evolving? Crazy… a whole country that isn’t constantly doing or believing the same thing? Insanity.

Also, we’re hopefully voting on Ukraine aid right after Easter…. I see Ukraine flags and “pray for Ukraine” stickers everywhere still.

  • We have 1 US military base in Israel (officially) and 5 in Saudi Arabia. With Jordan, Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait also housing personnel and bases/posts. (Officially and unofficially). There’s a lot more to Israel than just the US supporting them for our hegemony and if they weren’t being helped by us it wouldn’t exactly be a major loss anymore. Allegedly the nuclear capability they posses is due to us supplying them with it.

People act like Israel is our only ally in the region but outside of Shia Islamic heavy countries we have a number of Muslim/Islamic majority ally’s. Maybe not “friends” per se, but definitely have been part of our coalition forces before, and heavily trade with us and consume our culture.

  • Ukraine has a shit load of old Soviet era stuff. Of course they need supplies around that. They also keep asking for more F-16s and ammo for our weapons platforms we gave them. What does Ukraine and the weapons they use have to do with Israel?

Israel uses NATO standards for basically everything and the iron dome is effectively patriots. That’s all western tech with western specs. Russia and China would have to either create whole new missiles and calibers to fit, or they would have to buy older or brand new weapons systems and platforms which would take a decade plus to switch to.

Congrats on finding out how diplomacy works. Diplomacy isn’t a unit of measurement nor is it a spec. Which is what all those NATO spec weapons are that currently Israel is using.

  • Dumbest Lemmy user.

All those weapons that Israel has are western weapons. Meaning that Israel would have to buy new artillery, aircraft and mechanized units in order to use Russian/Chinese calibers and Launch Systems. Not to mention that politically Russia and China don’t remotely align with Israel and actively campaign and work against them. Nuance, like the other user said, would help you, but so would being quiet.

  • As opposed to completely unmanaged devices with software and hardware that I have zero idea what exploits are available for it?

If it’s because you’ve had some dumbass BYOD policy then that’s a you problem. I always tell my users to not put company policies on their private devices. On company devices, and especially government, I want my capacity to control my domain better.

  • While you’re in what looks like a 90s Honda, for newer sedans that are at the same height I always tell people I’d rather be in my small car in an accident than my giant 2500. Humans are real stupid and think that bigger = safer, but for cars and trucks it’s basically the opposite. The worst vehicle in the states to be in during an accident is a truck. Often SFA trucks have steering columns without much of a shear making for a giant harpoon aimed at your body during a crash. In every category the best these trucks can muster for accident ratings is “poor” and that’s if they’re lucky.

  • In a world with Andrew Tate and Joe Rogan OP goes after the most popular YouTuber simply because he makes videos that sometimes only help poor people a little. Instead of actively corrupting our youth and making men more likely to commit violent acts.

  • When using the mocha pot I always recommend the Cuban coffee I make. I stole the recipe from some Cuban restraints in San Francisco.

Mocha pot of coffee. One cinnamon stick in the cup. A spoon of sweetened condensed milk. Scalded milk.

Stir together. No I don’t have any specifics, but if balanced well it’s beautiful and perfect.

  • I worked in the SysAdmin side of education and we frequently use Verkada. It has all the options you listed, and then some like license plate detection, person of interest detection and others. It has options for cellular install as well, and cameras like PTZ, domes, and bullets.

  • Most government employees don’t live in DC specifically. The government is also FULL of Republicans. However they’re “classical” Republicans for the most part. Also, a surprising number of those republicans think the government is inefficient and lazy, but they are also the laziest and most inefficient of all employees.

    • former government employee with Republican parents who worked all 30 years of their career in government.
  • Commercial displays cost more because backlight testing and ratings double or triple. You’re paying more for longer uptime since your display is likely to run 12+ hours a day straight and not for 1-2 hours a day with an occasional 8+ hour usage. You’re also paying actual cost, but a lot of it really has to do with testing and materials that are built to survive consistent and frequent usage, plus centralized management. Lots of people assume it’s the same shit, but it’s completely different and it shows when you buy a consumer off the shelf display and put it in production.
