I looked up news articles after seeing the graph. Seems to be more about elderly and homeless. People touching knobs or falling on the concrete and receiving burns is a thing, but it's trending way up. Like 83C concrete... crazy hot.
Internationally stressful. Biden is hitting out of the park in comparison. Trump was jacking off in the bleachers and broadcasting it on the 6 o clock news
It's kind of boring. I've tried reading it and gave up. Now I'm 8 hours into the audiobook and it's been like 6 days since I've put it on. I love the world of dune, but the story is very complex and expository. I wouldn't describe Dune as a thrilling page turner, more of a space drama.
Welcome! There are hot topics (I've noticed politics and inflation being spicy), but by and large great experience.
The smaller communities might be small, but they surprisingly don't lack in engagement IME. Basically everyone is new so when a community has 10 members, those 10 members have probably been online this week checking their feeds and messages.
The maximum number of people who care enough about this to change their lifestyle is the number of people who are doing it right now. How do you increase that number? I can't even convince my family to cut down on meat. My wealthy friends don't give a shit. My right wing friends care even less.
People do not like change. Least favourite part of my job is trying to convince something they need to change their habits.
Companies can be regulated and fined. The government is supposed to represent the people, I'd rather them penalize companies than me.
The list goes on and on. All of these companies have laid off staff. Spotify laid off 200.
I've never liked the subscription pricing model and have avoided all of these services. I can't afford hundreds of dollars a year on things that aren't staple items.
I still visit /r/ukraine and /r/combatfootage, but less and less lately and zero engagement. Propaganda has taken over the ukraine sub and the comments have become vile. Better discussion and analysis on /combatfootage. The /c/ equivalents are low traffic.
Otherwise I haven't had any issues and feel better. I've been reading more, either reading the actual linked articles or library books/audiobooks. Every morning I ask siri 'tell me the top news today' and it reads me a 1-2 minute podcast from CBC. I might pop into ground.news while I do my morning business, and then during the day at work I'll have a lemmy tab open.
The main problem is that I use reddit for work. I need to find another place, maybe stack exchange or some lemmy instances/communities. Haven't really spent much time looking.
The women in the court? Not sure who you're referring to or maybe I'm missing some information here. I thought they were women who became pregnant, were denied abortions, went through some heinous shit, and are suing the state in protest of a law that most people already don't agree with. Kind of missing the 'nutjob' part of your thoughts..
Just a note, I think you're taking their comment too literally. Like educate him in a friendly way. When you give shit to friends, it can be friendly. Different than giving shit to strangers.
