  • I'd say .world has been the most reddit-like for me. Overall it's still good here but I'm also looking forward to it simmering down for a while.

I haven't actually noticed hexbear at all and I'm on an instance that isn't defed

  • That's the goal. But I can't reject the fact that I need to work. It's gotta happen. And I also don't want to be depressed all the time. My comment is kind of about learning how to keep doing what I need to do without being sad and or angry about it all the time.

I've always been envious of those people who grew up knowing what they wanted to do with their lives and then they did it. It seems like what we want is incongruent with what is available. It's like they were born into something that was designed for them, but I think at least part of it is parenting and education. Doesn't help that our world is kind of fucked up though. Hard to close my eyes to that and be excited about choosing a career. That and* we're kind of serfs.

  • How I see this problem is that we aren't given to tools to help us decide how we want to live our lives. Work sucks and is a waste of time. Contributing to society is valuable and something I want to do.

  • Oh I fully agree with being intolerant to those kinds of people. But for all our arguing I can't honestly say that it does anything in the real world. I don't come here to stress out, I come here to take a break from life, hang out with a positive community, and maybe learn some things.

  • I like that idea. Continuing to make money, no matter if it's just a few hundred dollars a month, is the main hurdle for me to leave. You'd still need to finance construction but it's a good long term vision.

I am worried about fire seasons/smoke seasons. At best it shortens the tourist season and at worst I lose everything : /

  • Idk I looked it up (the claim that vets don't use it) and what I read was that it can cause feelings of suffocation. The vet claim here was a little challenging for since I doubt that pets would like a mask on their face regardless of what is coming out of it.

  • I don't doubt it, but what I was getting at was that I wonder if Kushner hasn't had more serious investigations into these allegations because it is hard to 100% prove and the article brings that up. Obviously Kushner isn't going to say anything to the FBI, and Flynn is also being silent so the FBI has to rely on a potentially sketchy source. Not much to stand on given that I'm hoping we get to see Kushner in jail one day.

  • This is the one I'm thinking of. Love the concept. Potential challenge is that in Canada things, in particular, shipping is expensive. I'm pretty broke right now so my inclination is to save money over the long run and not be wasteful.

I'm not a phone person though. Useful device but not something that takes up much of my day to day time.

  • Damn 19C! My apartment is 24 right now and it feels cozy. When I bake it gets to 27. Without heat in the winter it hovers around 16 inside.

I'd consider going somewhere with more extreme day/night cycles like the Northwest territories, but within Canada I'm basically happy where I am. I like the super long days in the summer and I'm also ok living in the dark most of the winter as long as I can stay active.

  • Not yet but one day. If I could get a phone and keep it for 20 years (with repairs/upgraded parts) then I'd switch.

If apple removes the plug then i'll start considering the other options when my current phone becomes unusable. Until then it's too easy to buy an old iphone and hold onto it for 6 years.

  • "according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by U.S. officials." !

    Wow. Very interesting.

"Russia at times feeds false information into communication streams it suspects are monitored as a way of sowing misinformation and confusion among U.S. analysts."

    That was my thought too.
