Can somebody ELI5 what the difference between Linux distros is? I’m ashamed to admit I don’t truly understand, aside from different package managers and DEs but even then there are only a handful of those.
I disagree that the different communities have distinct user bases. I don’t have data to support my claim, but one can assume there is a lot of overlap between the communities privacy, privacyguides, and privacy@lemmy.one. Perhaps technology has a non-empty symmetric difference with respect to the other communities.
I for one was a little annoyed seeing the repeated links in my feed. It’s something that happens a lot on Lemmy which makes me want to come here less often. Perhaps a solution would be to combine cross posts into one post with links to the cross posts.
Hmm. It’s not working in Manjaro for me. Is it as easy as just opening any other folder? I have Drive added in KDE and can see my files but I cannot add a folder from drive in Codium.
Meh, I pay for Usenet and donate to some of my favourite private trackers. My NAS, network switches, firewall, and drives cost probably more than 10 years of subscriptions to services I would otherwise use. I don’t pirate because I’m cheap, I pirate because I hate DRM.
Yeah. Wayland works great on my laptop. I can’t even log in on my desktop because it’s Nvidia. As a light Linux user the difference doesn’t really mean much to me aside from the fact it doesn’t work on my desktop.
But the people who release BRs are either the same people selling streaming subscriptions, or will be bought up by them. For example, Disney is no longer releasing BRs anymore.
Yeah but don’t Debian and Ubuntu (for example) use the same package manager?
