freedom of speech

Jump
  • The point is that Bill Gates, George Soros, Biden, Fauci et.al. use the paradox of tolerance to suppress free speech.

Those people are chosen deliberately and grouped together as if they're all colluding. The point is a conspiracy theory very popular in altright circles. If you think that OP actually has an agreeable point then you're not an apolitical spectator above it all, you agree with an altright conspiracy theory which has antisemitic overtones.

  • freedom of speech

  • The group is made up of the right wings favorite enemies.

Bill gates supposedly is for population control lookup Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation conspiracy theories.

Fauci likely does not need explanation.

George Soros has replaced Rothschild has the figurehead of "elders of Zion" style antisemitic conspiracy theories.

  • The service ticketmaster offers is not selling you tickets, the service is to the producers, artists etc. They get a huge cut off the sales and even get to choose what bullshit fees ticketmaster can use when selling their tickets, but ticketmaster gets the hate for it and they are still in the clear with their fans.

Ticketmaster is the apron these people use to keep themselves clean of the hate while they squeeze every last dime out of their fans pockets.

  • It depends on the context. If you're asked to evaluate something and all you have to say about someone's work is that it took effort there is a lot unsaid. As in "at least they tried".

If you're saying "wow that looks like it took a lot of work" it means that you're acknowledging that someone spent a lot of energy on something (edit: and are appreciative of it). Like if its a really elaborate piece of art and you're just marveling at it.

If someone's saying this to you about your work they most likely mean the latter since the former is pointlessly cruel. Unless they're trying to bully or harass there is no need to tell someone their work is worthless.

  • Oh its a very thin line to tread sometimes in office politics. Do not merely drop that line and leave it hanging, there has to be some padding around it.

The larger point is what OP wants to say. If they do not want any sort of confrontation, lie. Its OK to lie to your boss if its not directly related to work.

If you want to be honest but not engage in any further discussion these statements convey that I think. Sometimes you actually want to say "I think that person is not qualified and will never learn" but leave the option for the other party to gloss over that statement.

Don't try to be clever by saying one thing and meaning another. Be clear about what you want to communicate and then how to communicate it.

  • Looking for backhanded corpoflattery?

I think x is an important subject that the author mentioned.

The level of expertise the author has is very apparent.

They obviously put a lot of work into this.

The last one basically means "its absolutely worthless".

Edit: They're all scathing indictments so use them judiciously. The first one means "they don't know what they're talking about" and the second "they're dumb as dirt". Try to lessen the blow with some indescript adjective like "hard work" unless you're sure on how honest you want to be.

The trick is to take a statement which should be true for any book. Usually these statements are followed by a more detailed description of what you found to be commendable. Lack of such a description speaks loudly but the other party does not need to engage it.

If you actually said "its worthless", then the other party would have to engage your statement. This leaves the opportunity to just gracefully accept your opinion and to just never speak of it again.

  • Wish I still had time to watch stuff like that. My own community goes empty because I can't even find time to post my own thoughts.

Though I more or less created it before some more "traditional" christians crated it instead.

  • 1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. 2 Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days. 4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5 You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the righteous person. He does not resist you.

from James 5 (who might have been Jesus' half-brother though that's speculation).

  • Please don't defederate unless moderation becomes impossible. People should curate what they want to see on their own. Part of why I joined lemm.ee was that the content is not pre-curated, but I have a wide selection to choose from myself.

  • Well a lot of the humour is really transphobic or sexist and I definitely remember at least one racist joke. There is definitely a lot of good jokes and it's a funny show, but then something like that comes out of left field and it just kills the mood for me.
