  • It's actually somewhat difficult to tell which aspects of US policing wasn't born out of the slave patrol. I guess you could say that the Texas Rangers is an aspect that wasn't born out of it... it was born out of the need to commit pogroms and generalized genocide against Native Americans.

  • white supremacist subreddits like /r/europe are pro-Israel, probably only because it conveniently resonates with their anti-immigrant and anti-muslim messages.

The pro-Israeli stance of a Europe that is as antisemitic as it always has been is no new thing - even the Nazis considered forcing Europe's Jewish population to emigrate to Palestine as a potential "Final Solution" to their precious "Jewish Question" (it was dropped as a "solution" because Palestine was in British hands at the time). Christian Zionism predates Jewish Zionism - and it was always firmly based in European antisemitism... ie, the (very antisemitic) idea that Jewish people are "other" and cannot belong in "western" society. People are quick to forget - the post-WW2 era was the only time in "western" civilization's history that overt and brutal antisemitism wasn't the order of the day. From a historical perspective, it might even be considered an aberration for "western" society - and, considering the resurgence of of overt far-right ideology in the Global North, it may be an aberration that is coming to an end.

It’s like saying the people that support Palestine do so because they’re anti-Israel.

You cannot be pro-Palestinian and not be anti-Israel - that's no different than saying you're pro-black people but accept the existence of the Apartheid-regime in South Africa. To compromise is to simply excuse the continued repression of the former under the guise of "respectabity politics" - the politically correct term for "appeasement," I'd say.

but the common people do it because of how close their values and culture are to their own.

What "values" and "culture" would that be? A belief in "western" superiority as catalyzed through genocidal settler-colonialism? White supremacism, perhaps?

  • Co-morbidities - I'm trying to figure out if it's a coincidence that so many Israel supporters turn out to be rabid white supremacists.

I'm also trying to figure out if it's mere coincidence that the countries that are most responsible for enabling Israel also happen to be countries with deep histories of white supremacism, antisemitism and colonialism.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • You lost me at "Russian Special Military Operation in Ukraine." You can just call it what it is... an invasion.

And if you think "the left" in the US is so powerful that it could have made any kind of dent in the narratives surrounding Russia's invasion of Ukraine I have to call bullshit.

  • I’m sure he would rather put them on trains. And still wouldn’t see the hypocrisy.

Funny you mention that... one of the things that barely gets any mention in history books is how enthusiastically Europe's police forces collaborated with the Holocaust - the Vichy police literally rounded up Jewish people by the thousand to send off to the death camps without the Nazis even asking them to do so.

It's almost like the institution of police was invented to act as a distillery for the worst right-wing goons that the people at the top can sicc on anyone that the status quo has painted as a threat and/or scapegoat.

  • everyone that holds any left wing principles

Ther is only one left-wing principle of any relevance to this discussion - the challenging and dismantling of systems of power and privilege. There is also only one right-wing principle of any relevance to this discussion - the protection and expansion of systems of power and privilege. Whether the systems of power and privilege go full-Nazi simply depends on how insecure said systems are at any given moment.

I just wanted to clear that up because that is how people seem to be interpreting your hard-line stance.

It's not a hard-line stance at all - it's just one with all the clickibait fairy tales stripped away. No, they're interpreting it that way because a lot of right-wingers are quite shocked when they find out that they are, in fact, pro-status quo right-wingers and not the (supposed) "enlightened centrists" they believed themselves to be. We call right-wingers reactionaries for a reason.

  • I agree, involving more civilians

Gaza is little more than a modern-day ghetto for the Palestinians Israel cannot murder without the world's cameras telling us about it... where are these "uninvolved civilians" you speak of?

You take one politically neutral Palestinian

Where do you see Palestinians living in such bubbles of privilege that they can afford "political neutrality?" In the open-air prison of Gaza, perhaps? In the squalid refugee camps in Jordan, perhaps?

  • There’s a real chance that this attack was successful because of intelligence passed through former US President Donald Trump.

    Pretty irrelevant at this stage.

The attack did not represent the will of everyone who lives in Palestine.

Palestinians have every right to fight back against a genocidal settler-colonialist state. They do not need your permission or approval to do so.

The response from Israel so far has been wildly disproportionate and has labelled everyone in Gaza as an enemy

The settler-colonialist state of Israel has treated all Palestinians as an enemy "other" in their quest for Zionist ethno-fascist lebensraum since 1949 - no one has a right to be surprised by this now.

  • Considering that Israel used a lot of that handout money the US gave it to fund Hamas back in the late 80s, why doesn't Josh Hawley just cut out the middleman and give Ukraine's support directly to Hamas?

Makes about as much sense as anything else emanating from right-wingers...
