Enshittification has just gotten started.

So for example Harvey Weinstein gets a pass on all his shitty rapey behavior? How long in the past does it need to be? What is the ‘statute of limitations’ on shitty activities?

The Marbles woman did some shitty stuff. She agreed what she did was shit but issued the standard non-apology apology that she didn’t intend to hurt anyone with her shitty awful shit. Also she just quit. Apparently she made so much money it didn’t matter.

I have no idea who kobayashi is other than a guy who quit the hot dog eating competition.

If this is all you’ve got, it’s pretty thin sauce.

Why do I have to support shitty people?

It’s only ok to ‘cancel’ if a trans woman promotes a shitty beer. Otherwise it’s a problem.

But it pays min wage so we should support this shitlicker.

For many people his movies became unwatchable because of his absurd behavior. The physical movie was unchanged, it’s cultural existence was revised from the future.

Cultural evolution can change all sorts of cultural artifacts. Not always in a negative way either.

Here’s another clear example, (also negative) Gone With the Wind morphed from beloved classic to unwatchable racist nonsense.

Cultural artifacts are not static entities frozen in time.

Also there is only one of me (that I am aware of) so the options should be 1 or 0.

The fraction of my electric and internet bill consumed by remote work is negligible.

Talked to a former coworker who goes into the office now a couple of times a week to sit in a shitty open office workspace to go on teams to ‘interact’ with his colleagues. It’s just fucking stupid. Also the company sells remote work enablement tools.

The point is that as culture evolves the experience of cultural artifacts changes. Consider for example any Woody Allen movie.
