My high school in a semi rural part of the Southern US had a Chinese language class that you could choose to take for your foreign language credit back in the early 2010s. I think it's a false premise to say that it's not taught in the US, most kids just choose to take easier languages like German, French, or Spanish

There are probably plenty of right wing instances you're not federated with, but now that mainstream social media has been overtlu taken over by fascists there's not as much reason for it. When I first heard of Lemmy I remember there were a shit ton of far fight instances because that's who was getting kicked off of reddit back then. Now, though, the owner of Twitter is straight up doing seig heils in front of crowds and you can get banned on reddit if you criticize him too much. So if you're a conservative, why would you bother using a weird open source platform like Lemmy when the big dogs are all in complete agreement with your beliefs and all your heroes are on those platforms, especially when your ideology is based on hero worship?

The Greeks and Romans had a cultural taboo against polygamy which Christianity inherited, which means that Christians have historically been opposed to polygamy (which was not the case in Pre-christian northern Europe) on moral grounds. There is also the issue that historically polygamy has been associated with patriarchal societies in which men are allowed or expected to have multiple wives, but women are not allowed to do the same. Additionally, it is also culturally associated with treating women as property of the husband. Personally I don't have any issue with polygamy if everyone is free to do whatever but the way most cultures practice it, it's unfair to women. Then again, that could also he said of "traditional" marriage in a lot of monogamous scenarios too.

Is that so? Why would some spells specify geometry then? For example fireball says it is a 20 ft radius while Hallucinatory Terrain specifies that it affects a 150 ft cube which, under Chebyshev distance, would be the same as a sphere right? My understanding was that D&D 5e uses euclidean distance with a minimum threshold of a square that has to be covered to be counted.
