  • Never mind two separate things 😣

Archive.org's goal is to archive as much of the Internet as possible for the long term, like most archivists, and is backed by a nonprofit foundation. The "wayback machine" is only one part of what Archive.org does.

Archive.is has the more modest goal of taking on-demand snapshots of web pages in case they change

Though what I said above applies to both in my opinion.

  • How's that unpopular? It's just not popular with a bunch of puritans, who says luckily on the minority.

Have you heard about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hays_Code Pretty wild to look back at all the things banned until 1968!

  • It's just very unrealistic... Look at China's one child policy and all the other countries where decades of contraceptive push has only minor success.

  • It's a free service with high cost that's doing a lot for the Internet.

Seems like at the moment there is a bug. I'm sure it's gonna go back to normal soon.

  • Critical mass has high inertia.

  • Hammer time?

  • Dƶner macht schƶner

  • I also encounter this frequently on MacOS...

  • To summarize: "OMG, Sanders donated campaign funds to a non-profit we don't like!"

The Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) also allows members to donate campaign funds to any entity described in section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, including charitable or educational organizations, or governmental entities.

  • the fact is that most ducks prefer to take a mentoring role

    šŸ¦† 🤣

  • I'm a dev manager of a remote team: I would encourage my team to talk to each other over their favorite rubber animal anytime, if the opportunity is given.

This facilitates both knowledge sharing and teamwork.

  • Some studies need to be replicated before the results are trustworthy and others replicate bad studies - both are issues.

Looking at this graph, I agree that there is an axe to be ground:

  • I usually text with them. The missed call entry is usually enough information anyway.

  • Two hundred years ago today, on July 17, 1819, Eunice Foote was born. Thirty-some years later, the amateur climate scientist made the remarkable discovery that when sunlight shines on carbon dioxide in a closed container—our atmosphere, for example—heat builds up inside. https://www.audubon.org/news/the-female-scientist-who-discovered-basics-climate-science-and-was-forgotten

And then there is also this:

A trove of internal documents and research papers has previously established that Exxon knew of the dangers of global heating from at least the 1970s, with other oil industry bodies knowing of the risk even earlier, from around the 1950s. They forcefully and successfully mobilized against the science to stymie any action to reduce fossil fuel use. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/12/exxon-climate-change-global-warming-research
