  • Counter point: If I didn’t hear how badly he runs his businesses, or how bad his company’s products are. I would have easily bought one or more of his products.

I have backed out of Tesla pre-orders because of the bad publicity, many reports of bad build quality, and terrible business decisions.

If this was a puff piece, I honestly wouldn’t have bothered posting it.

  • Can’t read the article since it’s behind a paywall.

Uber/Lyft and ride share companies in general put more cars on the road. Even worse, most of them just sitting idle waiting for the app to send them a fare (idling vehicles bad for environment).

Robotaxis are no different. Most of them will just sit idle or drive around aimlessly until a rider(s) are assigned. If conditions are less than ideal, then they are often just found sitting until the conflict can be resolved.

Witnessed multiple times where an automated car just sits at a light with hazards on because the light was broken due to recent power surge. Just 1 downed vehicle in a 3 lane road in downtown area caused significant traffic to pile up.

I just want sane non-car centric infrastructure. Why is that so hard for this country to do? Need to undo this 1950s era of urban planning and transportation.

  • Apple standard is 6-7 years for latest OS support. My 2017 Intel MBP still going strong. Had one free battery replacement because this generation of MBPs plagued by quality control issues — butterfly kb, poor hinges, poor heat management, highly sensitive to dust.

Of course, it won’t get Sonoma but still very useful for occasional out of the home/office work (ie, airports, coffee shops, libraries, …). Plus since I mostly VPN into office/home assets, it’s more of a dumb terminal now and offload heavy workloads to beefier machines.

  • This guy has not aged well. Dude did too much coke in the 2000s-2010s. Now his brain is all fucked up and out of touch with reality.

I really hated all of his films. Except maybe “Get Him to the Greek” (mostly carried by supporting cast).

His acting was always the same “pretentious British douchebag”. Coincidentally also a pretentious British douchebag in person. In his sad excuse for comedy and standup. He’s the type of guy that thinks he is the smartest person in every room.

And now he’s a rapist, sexual predator and making friends with some of the scummiest people on this sad planet.

  • is that legally an executive team works for the shareholders. They must ensure shareholder return no matter what as they are in the hook for it.

Not an excuse for just blatantly fucking over the customers. By implementing this hostile pricing model, company is alienating their customers. Big game studios may or may not cough up the money (or just delay that payments and take Unity to court if threatened). Small companies will just not pay up and either kill their projects or redesign from the ground up using a diff engine. Indie devs will likely just use another engine all together.

It’s a clear money grab that will backfire on them (losing trust of an already small community, and thus money will slowly stop rolling in). Fucked by the loss of sales. Fucking over the shareholders and creating new bag holders. Only winners here are the insiders that dumped their shares before announcement.

C-level execs at Unity smoking crack.

  • So glad I ended up not working at Tesla

His most valuable lieutenants at Tesla and SpaceX had learned ways to deflect his bad ideas and drip-feed him unwelcome information, but the legacy employees at X didn’t know how to handle him.

This is fucking insane and would drive me nuts.

This guy really is a Space Karen

  • six out of nine key measurements

    6 out of 9

    6/9

    nice

seriously though - I have doubts that the largest producers of emissions (US, UK, China, Russia, ...) will be able to meet reduction goals. Americans are hooked on energy produced via fossil fuels. O&G continues to fight for their existence, and fight against any regulation all in the name of profit. Americans (yes this includes Canadians) will refuse to change their 1950s way of living (high consumptions of meat, high dependency on car centric transportation, highways to fucking nowhere, ...).

  • This idea of feeling safe is causing us to regress as a society. This “feature” is just discrimination wrapped in a nice sounding name — “Women Plus Connect” and UI.

We used to be able to identify the predators in our communities and do some sort of action: jail them, shame them, beat them up, whatever. Now we are using fear of them to perpetuate discrimination and AVOID them.

  • Decades of propaganda painting the entire government as bad, deregulation, defunding, union busting, and lobbying in the capital have paid off for the private sector.

Companies can now promise to not do bad things. Because that worked out so well in the aftermath of the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis..

  • Fuck the space Karen.

Also the source of this is apparently a biography written by the former CEO of CNN, Mark Isaacson. Is this correct?

I’m all for hanging this guy out to dry but seems like a play to pump CNN numbers because Elon outrage usually goes viral. It’s a bit sus.

Has any other entity actually confirmed these claims?

Also, aren’t there regulations that would prevent an individual or company from doing a unilateral decision like this? I think it’s called ITAR or something.

  • I am imagining this scenario: “ChargeScape” will become the future “pharmacy benefit managers” between state and federal grid operators and power storage entities (ie, whether it’s from an EV or some independently owned array of storage cells).

They will handle and negotiate the deals between these 2 entities. You will have no say in this matter and “ChargeScape” will always be taking their % from the power YOU supplied to the grid.

The area you moved into has a number of fees and costs which make charging for the grid a loss operation? Too bad.

    “Fuck you, pay me”

You didn’t charge your EV during the mandated time as laid out in the ChargeScape contract? Electrical company will now charge you a higher rate for that month to recoup costs of dealing with violation. Can’t afford it?

    “Fuck you, pay me”

Didn’t meet the quota for the month? Here’s a violation fee for the month and an improvement plan has been generated. Failure to meet quota for 2 consecutive months results in higher rates. Can’t afford it?

    “Fuck you, pay me”
