Oh come on, it's still a free and open source browser. As seen in the other comments, it's a badly worded security feature for firefox internal pages and mozilla pages.
It's not going to kill adblock, it won't send your data everywhere and it can be disabled through an option as well as by simply building firefox yourself.
Everybody should stop being so negative towards open source developers.

I absolutely agree with you, but not quite on the las point. SystemD is modular, right? I can still pick and choose something else for tasks that SystemD handles. Also, it might be a good idea anyways to centralize some common tools for distros and devote developer ressources somewhere more specific and necessary.
It'll always be an open field of software stacks to choose from, but having one big, featureful and solid base stack for most usecases seems like a win to me. It's all completely FOSS anyway, it's not like we are risking a vendor lock-in here.

Exactly. People are pretty averse to consolidating on something new, but let's be super honest here. SystemD is pure FOSS and not going away anytime soon. It's design is reasonable and brings a good deal of useful features. Also, main distros being a little more similar because they all support SystemD's API/config is an absolute win for me!
No, it's just a common saying that shows how people react to this sort of news. It's a bit cynical but not untrue.
There is no lemmy TOS by the way. There is no central authority to all of this. Much like real life, people tend to stay away from the weirdos and in the fediverse they just defederate from a group of weirdos if it becomes too bad.
But to be honest, defederation is an absolutely minor inconvenience. Most important instance will of course cooperate and have similar rules. It's just that we are on a very young platform right now and the moderation tools are not as advanced as elsewhere. Currently, defederation is just a temporary band-aid solution to make the admin's lifes easier. It'll get better and sort itself out over time.
If you like spreading hate, you will of course always have a problem with defederation. You likely won't be able to participate in normal discussions on normal instances as well as vile portrayals of humanities' worst with the same account. But that's not a new concept. People have had two accounts for normal discussion and things like NSFW subs before.
