  • This is getting a surprising amount of attention.

In the U.S., at least 230 people have been ill in 38 states… The tainted cantaloupe was also shipped to Canada, where 129 cases have been reported”

We’ve all seen much more dangerous things get little or no coverage.

  • I must be incredibly jaded, because this is kinda funny. A terrible, stupid idea, sure, but reading about it is a bit funny.

  • A jackass not being a fan of something is, to me, a pretty good advertisement for that thing.

It’s like a loud, obnoxious racist complaining about a nearby bar. “They don’t believe in freedom! They asked my friends and I to leave just for telling a few jokes!”

Oh, they don’t put up with bigots and aren’t afraid to kick them out? Maybe I should start hanging out there!

  • GOOD. Thank you for the context. I hope he’s indicted soon.

  • An attorney general is “advising hospitals to ignore a court order”.

    Read that sentence again.

He is supposed to be an officer of the court. It is his job to uphold the law, regardless of how he feels about it personally. The judge ruled explicitly on this particular woman’s specific situation - there is no reasonable room for interpretation here.

This man is putting his own opinion above the rule of law. He is radically unsuited for his job and deserves to be disbarred.

  • I don’t think they would have to. It’s getting harder and harder to shame Republicans. The Republican Party has also got decades of anti intellectualism on their side, plus the more recent attacks on higher education. They’ve spent years laying the groundwork for a fight just like this one.

A lot of people think that students deserve to be held responsible for legal loans they voluntarily accepted as adults. They don’t think it’s fair for college students to get a bailout when they themselves are struggling to pay their mortgage. I think student loan forgiveness is a sound investment in our country’s future, but unfortunately, it’s not my decision.

Remember, much of the Republican base is selfish, and has significant disdain for younger generations. This fight appeals to their ideas about personal responsibility (for others), justice (unless they’re asking us bend the rules in their own favor), cutting government spending (unless it’s on themselves), and the cruel satisfaction of hurting smartass liberal college brats.

  • “I haven’t been in the news for hours! Time to say something infuriating!”

  • The “fucking excuse me??” panel is gold all by itself.

  • It bothers me that he’s not wearing shoes in the lab.

  • There’s an interesting correlation between China issuing a “warning” and me giving the screen the finger.

  • True. As stupid as I think this rail idea is, I can’t argue with your point about pollution.

  • Yes! Let’s build high speed rail to an unsustainable city in the middle of the desert! That will definitely prove to be a worthwhile investment!

  • I don’t really care what color the bubbles are when I send messages, as long as the go through.

Amen. It’s nice being an adult isn’t it?

Now don’t bother me. I’ve got cartoons to watch.

  • I just remember being a stupid, petty teenager. It could be bullshit, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true.

  • A potion to detect cheating? That’s hilarious!

  • I appreciate that they didn’t throw her under the bus, and the article turned into a compilation of live news bloopers. These things happen. No biggie.

  • Basically. When companies are allowed to pick two from

    1. faster
    2. cheaper
      or
    3. better

They usually pick faster or cheaper unless competition forces them to improve quality in order to survive.

  • A friend of mine drives an SUV. I’m getting him a sticker of Jason for the back window, with an “arm” holding a bloody machete that attaches to the back window wiper. When the wiper is on, it looks like Jason is hacking away with his machete.

I think it’s kinda corny, but he loves stuff like that!

  • What it won't solve is the color of bubbles in iMessage, which marks Android users with green messages instead of blue and has led to a rash of teen bullying.

This is both cruel and asinine, meaning it’s probably true. I’m wishing for karma in these situations.
