You’re entirely correct. My only concern is that tying the federal minimum wage to a less important standard might encourage employers to manipulate that standard in order to keep wages down. Something like the Cost of Living Index (CLI) is major, and really hard to mess with, especially without having many complex consequences. In my eyes, that gives it some built in security. Plus, existing minimum wage laws (whether they’re state or federal) don’t take location into account.
Still, though, I’m not very knowledgeable about economics, and you raise an important point.
Thank you for this simple, clear, propaganda-free answer. I stopped trying to find one because it was buried under wildly different kinds of bullshit depending on the perspective of who responded. I’m not surprised that OP had to ask.
The federal minimum wage is a joke. Tie it to the cost of living or something so it stays up-to-date automatically, and politicians can’t use it as a bargaining chip.
I don’t agree with that reasoning. It’s entirely possible for someone to be personally accepting of the Fediverse’s privacy issues, but make an intelligent, well informed, coherent critique of them.
If you’re desperate enough to ask for home remedies on the internet, then you’re desperate enough to see an actual doctor. This issue might be more complicated than it seems.
I would guess that it’s being downvoted because it’s just a statement - not a well explained idea. The post itself seems lazy, not the word that’s being criticized with no reason given.
I hate the fact that my country infects Canada with that filth. You’re wonderful neighbors, and we were already enough trouble before Fox “News” came along.
Screwing with international commerce is a great way to get a lot of attention. Unfortunately, it’s also a great way to piss people off. This will lead to more violence than we want - except for the most bloodthirsty and deranged, that is.
