It’s vital to understand that Archie Bunker was written as a bigot intentionally. You’re meant to laugh at him, not with him. The show deliberately addressed controversial social subjects.
Nah, “i always tried to blow the smoke away from the customers anyway” would be funny regardless of who was saying it. But I’m upvoting you because I’m pretty sure you’re just messing with me.
By taking what limited steps I can, and by not criticizing others if I don’t think their efforts are thorough, effective, or sincere enough (nobody likes a smug, judgmental, pedantic asshole). By recognizing that people cope in their own ways, and keeping an open mind. By generally trying to be considerate of others.
It is truly amazing how little high school drama will matter to you once you’ve graduated.
It’s also amazing how easy it is for some adults to judge/dismiss people who are going through one of the most difficult periods of their life. It’s like some adults forget that they were ever teenagers. I can understand adults wanting to block it out, but being a dick about it is a touch much.
Alarming as this may sound, they’re beating a dead horse. Most of the people who would believe this shit uncritically also think Fox “News” is the gospel truth. They’re already lost.
Watchmen - holy shit. I decided almost on a whim that I’d give it a try and I was totally unprepared for the awesomeness. It took a few episodes to kick in, but once it did, I was like OH MY GOD THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I’VE EVER SEEN WHY DID IT ONLY GET ONE SEASON THIS IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY
That’s how I remember it, too. Dad watching reruns while we had dinner. That and MASH.
