  • “I’m being totally hatless, bro, I swear.”

  • I don’t know what it means either. I’ve heard the other two in casual conversation, but “no cap” is completely new to me.

  • A mattress, sheets, and at least one pillow. It can be expensive, but the first time you lay down in a bed that’s actually comfortable, you’ll know it was worth it.

  • There’s a reasonable compromise to be had here.

    To OP:

Take a temporary break from reading the news, for as long as you need. Your mental health is what’s most important.

When starting the news again, choose your sources carefully. Skip stories that will only serve to make you angry or sad. You’re not obligated to finish a story (or even a paragraph) if you sense it’s only contributing to your feelings of hopelessness. Remember that most publications are deliberately trying to cause a strong emotional response. Read stories that will provide useful information, and relate to things you can act on.

  • I figured that out a little too late lol

  • Florida is south of New York, and Florida state officials are making public statements that you’d expect from someone wearing a tin foil hat. OP might want to take that into account when choosing a place to live.

  • I missed the Daily Mail bit. Thank you for pointing it out.

  • Encouraging the rule of law when it’s applied to others, but being all about “individual freedom” and expecting special treatment when the law is applied to me. That’s what hypocrites do.

What I want are fair laws that are applied evenly to everyone. Then, at least I know that the system is just and reasonable, even if I personally don’t like the outcome of a particular case.

  • Maddening as this particular ruling is, you’re right. I want a fair government above all else, and fairness isn’t compatible with hypocrisy.

  • Important context. Damn.

  • His allies have called for… perpetuating military draft exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men…

People who are eager to start wars never want to fight in them.

  • Exactly. Those people are paid salaries. They have teams working on things. When something is allowed to go wrong, someone either didn’t do the job they’re paid for, or they’re incompetent/apathetic. They’re using proven software that’s been around a while.

When there’s a problem with a Lemmy instance, then maybe the one person responsible was at the job that actually pays their rent. They’re working with beta software that’s full of “surprises”.

  • No. This is incredibly complex software run by people with little or no budget. I’m grateful that it exists at all.

  • I’m struggling to use kbin right now, and even when it works, it’s incredibly slow. I’m amazed that this has been going on for days. I feel sorry for whoever is trying to fix it. It must be a nightmare. Where’s the best place to go for status updates and news from the devs?

  • Wow. There is a zero percent chance that this is more tiresome sabre-rattling and trash talk from an obnoxious, insecure, possibly unstable dictator.

I have a list of life concerns, and I will immediately add this to the very top of that list. Definitely.

  • I think you’re growing (though not always for the better) at least as much as you’re “dying”. I say “at least” because you understand more and have more life experience, and, in many cases, you’re better able to appreciate things than you were when you were younger.

Your personality undergoes too much change to simply describe it as “dying”. That’s only half of what’s going on.

  • Bleah. Glad that one was never pushed on me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single episode.

  • Just let them secede. They don’t really want a fair democracy anyway, so good riddance. America will be better off without them.
