The authors of the article are just as incredulous as you are. No, there’s no oversight. The FAA (for example) does license and regulate some things, but very, very little that specifically targets skydiving.
As businesses go, the laws are astonishingly loose, especially considering how dangerous skydiving can be.
I refuse to use these services for three reasons. One, I think they’re unnecessary. Two, I think they’re unreliable. Three, I think they’re exploitative.
Sometimes, being the calm voice in the middle is much more valuable than having a “solid argument”. You sound like a very reasonable person that I wouldn’t mind having as a boss.
It’s just a generation gap. It’s been happening since time out of mind. Take this quote:
"They need to learn how to relax, how to not think about it so much, how to come up with something that's theirs.”
If you haven’t read the story yet, it’s not clear who said it. That could be from or about anyone. It’s good advice for anyone.
Maybe Foster has a different opinion about some things, but she’s not being rude or nasty. Different things are important to different generations, and that’s okay.
Yeah, I figured it probably had a different connotation in French, but it still made me chuckle. I didn’t know the exact meaning that you explained, though, so I appreciate it!
An alarming number of people would say that this film renewed their faith in god. Granted, not enough people to prevent this film from being a net loss for the producers, but still. Yikes.
I try to give fans of Hawaiian pizza the benefit of the doubt. I say that apparently I’ve never had Hawaiian pizza done right. To me, it just tastes like a decent pizza… that somebody decided to add fruit to, for some incomprehensible reason. I’ll laugh at myself and change the topic.
Do you insist on steering the topic back? Want to lecture me on how great “salty and sweet” is? Okay, fine. I’ll suggest putting Twizzlers on there. Or m&m’s. Is that nauseating? Do you think those flavors and/or textures don’t work well on pizza? NEITHER DOES PINEAPPLE, YOU STUBBORN, BORING PIZZA SNOB. SHUT UP ALREADY.
True. That’s why I included the “look the other way” part. I’m sure there are people who didn’t abuse minors themselves, but knew it was going on. How could they sleep at night knowing that? If you’re helping keep the secret, you’re part of the problem.
After just reading the first paragraph, I was thinking “categorizing children as ‘something you can’t have’ is still too extreme”, but then you went on to explain dehumanizing others. Together, that makes the best explanation I’ve seen!
I just don’t understand this. I mean, I can comprehend the facts, and I acknowledge that it’s true, but I don’t get it.
I don’t understand how something so nauseatingly reprehensible can be alluring, especially on such a large scale. I could almost grasp it if we were talking about a weird, rare kink… but we’re not. It’s way too common, and an open secret among too many people. How can so many people be so incredibly depraved, or even look the other way, when such awful, nightmarish things are happening?
All I can do is shake my head and think to myself “people are fucked up, man.”
No. I’ve had it twice and have had no long-term effects (that I know of). I’ve been vaccinated twice and gotten a booster. I didn’t even lose my sense of taste while experiencing symptoms.
No apologies necessary. Y’all have been working overtime to get things back in order, and I appreciate it!
