I wasn’t sure if “them” referred to the promoters or customers, but since it works either way, I upvoted.

Out of the many HUGE red flags surrounding this event, this one in particular caught my eye:

The new festival was being marketed under the slogan “FYRE Festival 2 is real”.

If you have to market your event by starting with such basic information, (e.g. by trying to reassure people that your event actually exists and isn’t a prank) that should worry both you and your customers.

It’s terrible that she’s been put in such a situation. Not fair in the slightest. I’m not a software hobbyist anymore. I don’t want to spend hours doing research and trying to de-enshittify my new phone. I know Apple is ripping me off, but if one believes that time is money, it’s actually tolerable. Then there’s the UI, which I believe is the best in the market.

I’m not a fan of Apple’s walled garden, but for me, it’s the lesser evil. If someone goes with Samsung or something, though, I’d be a dick if I was a snob about it. Use what you like!

Hopefully the materials will improve before then. I think foldable screens are a great idea.

Frankly, if a child somehow makes it into my home, and is left unsupervised long enough to work out which of the 7 remote controls turns on the TV and surround sound system, and figures out how to access Netflix - I'd say they're mature enough to watch whatever they want.

You’re not ridiculous for worrying, but I think you’ll be okay. Since we’ve got a bigot running the show, it’ll help even more if you’re white (I hate saying that, but that’s the situation).

The future is another thing to consider. I assume that the situation for immigrants will only get worse, and turn into a complete shitshow when Mango Mussolini goes for his third term. This might be the least precarious time to leave the U.S. for several years. Make your trip count.

Sadly, I must agree. Trump is an unpredictable, unreliable wild card. I don’t think he has enough humanity in him to care about how devastating a nuclear war would be. To him, they’re just brown people on the other side of the world, so whatever happens, happens.
