  • I put down a deposit recently, like last month, but I have a similar outlook. I wanna see how they do after a few years to see how they hold up first. But if they look good and start selling like hotcakes I might be glad I put a deposit down early. Otherwise I'll cancel and get a Chevy bolt begrudgingly.

I wanna be optimistic because I do want Aptera to at least push the whole industry towards more repairable efficient and cheep evs.

  • It looks very modular, with company claiming a right to repair philosophy.

The painting seems to be aiming for a lower emissions vehicle, cheaper costs. Given that the body is not metal replacing panels should be easier if they get damaged.

Not to mention battery size doesn't need to be as large, so replacing it should be viable.

I'm hopeful but still got see how everything shakes out.

  • Actually maintained rail shouldn't have this problem, but the private companies like Norfolk Southern spend the minimum amount to keep them operational.

With a budget just a fraction of highway upkeep and expansion they should be able to be kept in good repair.

  • It seems like they are targeting something like the steamdeck for low end: 720p 30 fps, low settings, but high at 1440p 60 fps is many more pixels/s (~8 times as much?) and with higher settings.

This I think should be good, as it will scale well with better hardware while still being accessible.

  • You were the one who really showed me what it was really like over there, so now I'm back on my lemmy.world account instead.

It's a damn shame they can't act in accordance with their power and star trek principles.

  • I still hate them. Their goal isn't to increase safety but to increase revenue, or they're placed by incompetent people.

Americas aproach to road design is so backwards and gets many people killed.

  • Its a little strange to think about, but there's nothing 'natural' about modern crops.

For millenia selective breeding was used to get desired traits, with who knows how many other mutations along the way.

More recently radiation has been used to induce mutations in crops to wider diversity.

GMOs are just the next step in more precisely editing a plants genome with only the changes we want.

Now the corpations making them like Monsanto can get fucked, they should still be treated like every other plant. If you have seeds you should be able to plant them.

  • Buy a object like a lamp that has 3 prongs and exposed metal. Before you pet your dog touch the lamp. 3 prongs so thats it's grounded.

Also when you touch your dog for the first time touch him on his body with you whole hand at once, it'll spread the shock over a larger area and be less painful.

  • It is in america. Roads are too wide and straight, which sends subtle signals that its safe to go faster than the speed limit.

This is especially bad on roads that have had their speed limit reduced without changing anything else.

I blame American road designers for speeding more, because we should be designing roads that reflect the speed we want them to drive.

Though the best solution to speeding is just removing cars, but I doubt that will happen.
