  • Works for Albania.

Its not like google fucking earned that money anyways. You don't earn billions of dollars.

Think about it. If you earned a million dollars a year, you'd be set for life. If you lived for a full hundred years you'd have only made 1/10th of a billion dollars. Despite the fact that its still more money than either of us will probably ever see.

The people who operate google have billions with an s at the end. Think about the hardest working person you've known. Think about how little money they made.

Now ask yourself, what did the people with billions do to earn that money? How hard did they have to work to justify it, and how is that level of work even humanly possible? How would a bunch of spoiled overgrown trustfund fratboys find it in themselves do that work?

They fucking don't. The only people who get that rich do it by cheating, and stealing, and fucking people over. Those fuckers owe us a lot more than video streaming services.

  • I remember the summer that came out. I was like 14/15. I had just built my first PC that Christmas, an fx6300/r9 270x build.

That alpha ran great on it, coming off of playing ut99 on shitty integrated graphics, the game looked fucking awesome.

Between that and the first Titanfall it was a good time for great shooters that would eventually be abandoned.

Jesus I sound like all the old farts who where reminiscing about ut99 at the time.

  • Education is a big one to me. Through a series of unfortunate events I've become the owner of a number of guns, but I haven't done much other than make sure they're all unloaded and locked up in the safe.

I gotta figure out some local classes or something, the base NRA one my state reqs is shit, and even if it wasn't, was taught by some boomer who shouldn't have guns.

Not only did he sweep me with a barrel several times, he somehow had multiple stories of him needing his gun in defense. Except he didn't because he never used it other than to scare people. Also literally every story about it started with a phrase to the effect of: "so there was this black guy..."

I really don't want to be one of those cock-knockers who walks around being a danger to themselves and others for an ego trip.

  • Yeah I'm trying to build my body to be cute and fuckable, not combat ready.

Until cis men get their shit together, you can eat my ass about being a quivering shitbag.

I'll add someone to the daily list of 132 people that die by gunshot in the US, if it means I don't have to double down on being a part of the nearly quarter of women who have been sexually assaulted.

  • I think this depends how you perceive your pre-transition self. That advice is a good default though.

Personally I find myself switching between both perceptions of my past self, which is even more fucky since I'm closeted.

    Gender is a fuck.

  • When raspis came out like 12 years ago, I was still in my teenage years, and I wanted to keep one on the network. My mother was fucking terrified because it generated heat.

5V 1A means nothing to these people and no amount of facts will shut them up. Some people just inherently fear the unknown. Mixed with willful ignorance, it can be an infuriating combo.

  • What are you fucking on about lmao? Most channels that run a patreon, use it as their main source of income unless they also sell merch.

Everyone from giant channels like Linus Media Group, to medium and small-sized ones like Technology Connections, and Cathode Ray Dude.

I mean pretty much everyone I watch that has talked financials has mentioned how important patron is.

Some of them like Botgrinder literally for the most part, only make money through patreon because of YT's restrictive demonetization guidelines. Yet despite the lack of ad-revenue the guy is able to live off of a 50k sub channel where he pretty much smokes weed and flies FPV quads.

As for FLOSS, that heavily depends the projects. Huge ones used by corporations sure, but who's footing the bill for newpipe, Yt-dlp, Jellyfin, Pihole, And pretty much every video game emulator ever written? People like you (probably not considering your attitude), and me.

  • This isn't some magical world, this is how most open source software projects and even online content creators make their money.

Creators make way fucking more from patron than AdSense, even if its only a percentage of their audience. Do you know how much fucking watch time it would take to match the $5 a month I give to several of my favorite producers of online video?

A lot more than either your or I have time for, certainly more than the content they create.

You need only a sliver of your audience to pay, and platforms like patron prove this works.

The fact you're baffled by even a small percentage of people donating to gratis projects says a lot about how you value volunteer labor, and its pretty fucking sad.

  • You don't need all, or even most users money. Plenty of people make enough money off of the portion of their fanbase that pays them to not only survive, but thrive and grow.

You don't need all, or even most. You don't need this to be the norm for it to be sustainable.
