We should respect the other fellow's religion, but in the same sense and to a similar extent that we respect his belief that his children are smart and his wife is beautiful.
Question 1: Given the findings of recommendations of the Electoral Reform committee which of these electoral systems should be used in the next federal election:
A STV
B MMP
C Party List (opposed by the committee)
(No option for FPTP because the FPTP system has already chosen a change)
Question 2: Should unelected bodies like the senate be able to obstruct the implementation of an electoral system chosen by referendum
It absolutely was a mistake to surrender control of the committee. If opposition doesn't like it then they don't like FPTP.
In the Speech from the Throne given on 4 December 2015, at the start of the 42nd Parliament, Governor General David Johnston stated that:
To make sure that every vote counts, the Government will undertake consultations on electoral reform, and will take action to ensure that 2015 will be the last federal election conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system. (Emphasis added)
They did undertake consultations (by setting up a compromised committee), but they didn't take action.
I do concede that the Liberal Party is more to blame than Trudeau himself. I don't think he was willing to fight the party hard enough.
I was a substitute teacher too maybe I should be prime Minister....
at least we're all gender fluid now!
I'm sick of him spending so much money
you got quiet anon what's the matter? What do you think?
I stopped liking him when he backtracked on electoral reform as soon as elected. But I was not at all interested in agreeing with them. I just said I literally didn't know what they were talking about and went into the other room.
I did a quick Google 95% of households have a car in America. That's "almost all" but a lot of those households presumably have one car but multiple drivers, the fractions is not easy to determine. So I can't decide if your claim is true or not.
I agree with you that the person you were responding to is not at all in touch with reality though.
Maybe it means that. I think the fact that the meaning is not clear is a mark against its claimed divine authorship.
I think it's more important to consider the way Islamic law in practice actually treats women rather than try to interpret cherry picked verses.
Is it true that islamic men can kill their wives and daughters and simply walk away? It seems like you're engaging with an unhinged version of Islam. The type of interpretation a person would have if their experience with muslims mostly came through nationalistic hate media.
I had trouble understanding the archaic sentence structure of the translation. So I looked it up, and it seems that the passage is actually saying the opposite of what you allege. That is: I think it's saying that only the guilty can serve the penalty for the crime.
The notes I found explained that whereas in pre-islamic Arabia several low status people (of the accused's tribe or something) might be executed in place of a convicted high status person, muslims should only punish the guilty individual.
Also, how does this quote relate to the news article you submitted?
Should children be raised by parents that are neglecting them (not educating them, not preparing them for anything other than subsistence living) or is it moral for the state to take the kids away?
Well I'm just generally better at getting things done. Like planning playdates for my kids, filling out permission slips, doing a fair share of the laundry, fixing things when they break instead of when I need them again.
Like it's not all major life altering stuff, just like my wife can count on me more now.
Yeah this is it for me. I'm not a liberal, but it's very reasonable of every MP to think:
the speaker wouldn't invite a Nazi to be celebrated in the HoC, this guy must have been in the underground or something
Or honestly if Rota had said something like:
In WW2 Hunka was indoctrinated by Nazi propaganda, and had his patriotism twisted to support the Nazi regime against the Soviets. He fought in the Nazi SS Galician division against the USSR, seeking an independent Ukraine. He is horrified by the atrocities and genocide the SS and others committed in service of Nazism. He renounced his oath to Hitler at the first opportunity, but never gave up his support for an independent Ukraine. He is proud of Ukrainians like Zelensky fighting for a Ukraine that embraces democracy and freedom.
Hey is actually really great that you're figuring this out before it's too late. (Not that it's ever too late but I think you know what I mean)
I agree with someone else's suggestion that a second opinion is worth pursuing.
I don't know a lot about autism but I think it has some overlapping symptoms so I can totally understand the doctors hesitation.
I've only found medication somewhat helpful, and don't agree with the others that it is definitely what you need. But I do agree that you definitely do need help.
When I was in school (undiagnosed) one of the techniques that really worked for me was what I've now learned is called body doubling. Basically doing everything with someone else. I had a classmate that took good notes, but didn't really internalize them while taking them, so it was my responsibility to pay attention in class so I could explain his notes to him while we did the homework assignments together. It worked really well (in the classes we had together).
I can imagine Albertans being upset that they make a high percentage of the contributions but get a small portion of the payouts.
