The co-option classical and ancient Western culture sucks but it's pretty typical of fascism. It's even in the name. I'm interested in fitness, Hellenistic culture and history, Western mythology and philosophy, Jungian psychology, and YouTube think pieces. It's extremely hard to find videos on these topics that aren't actually being produced by crypto fascists.
It's great for sure, but it differs from the book in quite a few ways. Just as the television show differed from the books and the movie differed from the TV show. All are strongly recommended!
The artist who drew the dragon also illustrated a version of Michael Creighton's Eaters of the Dead which was just amazing. I can't remember his name off the top of my head. His first name is Ian I believe
Agreed. In my experience, dreams can be interpreted much like art can be interpreted. How you emotionally respond to the images and scenarios tells you a lot about what your mind is attempting to deal with while you are physically safe. I believe that dreams are a form of poetry that your mind is engaged with in order to integrate life experiences in a safe manner.
Greensboro, NC. Maybe not such a small town in NC, but small on a national scale. To be honest, my comment was anecdotal and from memory. But a quick search led me to deptofnumbers.com/rent/north-carolina/greensboro. It goes back to 2005 where the median residential rate was listed as $794. So, my memory is likely colored by what I considered as "acceptable" conditions as well as expense in 1993. I ended up renting a room, with no real kitchen, but a nice enough bathroom, for $400. Yes it was cheaper, but the kitchen was basically an alcove with a dorm fridge and a microwave at the end of the hall. It was not a place you'd bring a date home to. I recall that actual "nice" apartments I looked at were around $800 or so
Edit, whoops had to change to nominal dollars. 2005 median was $635.
30 years ago you couldn't find a reasonable place to rent for $700 in my smaller NC city. Today the prices here are around $2000 for a reasonably nice apartment. I'm not saying there isn't somewhere in the US where those rents can be found within that time period, but I'm skeptical there isn't some exaggeration going on here.
It also includes YouTube Music. Yes, I know, many will say they value proposition it's still poor even with that. Honestly it's worth it to me. I subscribe to the family plan because we watch a lot of YouTube and listen to a lot of music. No ads plus unlimited music for 4 people is worth it to us.
That's true but my point is that a lot of the servers that they are de-federating result in a significantly different experience. The inexplicable down voting you referenced above is not encountered as frequently on beehaw, at least in my experience.
Unless a server is defederated. Try viewing from beehaw.org for example. You'll have a more curated, and some would argue, less toxic experience. I have accounts on multiple servers and swap between them depending on my desired browsing experience. And though lemmyworld has a huge amount of content the quality of the discussion often reminds me of what you'd find on Reddit all.
I find him sincere, eccentric, and just really, REALLY into coffee.
