TLDR: Most of her students have delegated doing their homework to ChatGPT.
Well I agree with her: fuck that. She makes a good point that writing is not some busywork consisting of transcribing thoughts, it is thinking. I can certainly understand the frustration of correcting LLM slop for days. If the student can’t be bothered to write it, why would the teacher be bothered with correcting it? Just ask ChatGPT to correct "your" homework and put "AI Prompter" in your resume. Apparently it pays really well.
…OK I’m not being nice, I’ll step back a little. Article touches on an interesting concept:
Using ChatGPT to complete assignments is like bringing a forklift into the weight room
Why are students bringing the forklift into the weight room though? Is it because they don’t give a shit? Or are the stakes too high and they don’t trust their own abilities? Do they have the time to even try between their work shifts?
That just sounds like any normal day on Twitter. I feel bad for the community managers that still have to put up with that dumpster fire of a platform. This little flame war does nothing to my impression of Godot engine. To be honest I’ve been more worried about reports of rampant bullying.
I don’t know. Every ingredient can be adjusted to your personal taste, the point of quantities is to have a meaningful starting point. I’d rather read a 1/4 teaspoon than a pinch. Besides, a pinch is pretty hard to reproduce with any consistency.
(Also why not add a pinch a 1/4 teaspoon of punctuation to your prose my bro? My head is out of breath.
Pathfinder Kingmaker & WotR are such strong titles in most aspects, but in both instances the mini-game they tacked on top of a perfectly fine RPG got on my nerves. Kingmaker’s management sim and WotR’s Heroes-of-Might&Magic-like army battles felt to me pretty rough around the edges (and ultimately tedious), especially compared to how engaging the rest of the games are. Ugh, I love-hate them sooo much.
I’ve only played the two first entries so far (Trails in the Sky FC & SC) and I’ve found them be fun JRPGs. I’d recommend starting by the beginning.
falseknees comics aren't necessarily structured around a big punchline. It's often more of an animal kingdom slice of life. Here the bird on the left clearly hatched this year since they're unaware of leaves changing color in autumn. This is isn't their last surprise, as they're about to find out what it means to be a migratory bird as well.
The JavaScript Number type is implemented as an IEEE 754 double and as such any integer between -253 and 253 are represented without loss of precision. I can’t say I’ve ever missed explicitly declaring a value as an integer in JS. It’s dynamically typed anyways. There’s the languages people complain about and the ones nobody uses.
Floating-point arithmetic is important to understand at least vaguely since it’s a pretty leaky abstraction. Fortunately, we don’t need a "✨Member-only story" on Medium to get acquainted with the underlying concepts.
