I feel "protecting" them by walking on eggshells around things related to their culture is just a continuation of that fetishization(sp?) when we should all just be sharing and celebrating one another's culture. Obviously don't mock, but anything that is good natured as this event seems to be is exactly what humans should be doing
My Google homes have gotten progressively worse over the years. Half the time it will say it's setting a timer but nope, no timer. Recently I'll tell it to play music and it will reply that I don't have any devices with that feature.... they're all Google homes or Chromecast which absolutely play music. Really like the hardware but the software is utter shit
The first half of the first page is all ads now on Google. It's utter shit - the things it's a lot better at than DDG is NLP, being able to understand questions, and anything news related. If you know exactly what you're searching for though, using the old style of search words works great on DDG
Maher is such a self-obsorbed piece of shit scab - the man has a net worth over $100MM and he's giving crocodile tears over his staff. Do like Griz did during the pandemic and keep staff on payroll and pay out of pocket
What confused the fuck outta me as someone who has been in the crypto space since 2010 is that it wasn't new or novel in any way. Colored Coins was virtually the same thing and it flopped in a similar fashion and there were several similar projects that did the same or never made it off the ground. Then, some shitty monkey drawings come along, are backed by virtually the same thing I had seen before and suddenly people I knew from my hometown who barely had two brain cells to rub together were claiming to be financial and tech gurus while peppering "block chain" into conversation. The one thing that brings me solace is that they all lost their investments
SMS support - signal went from being a one stop shop for messaging to yet another standalone messaging app that suffers from a lack of network effect unlike its competitors. The all in one approach was it's single greatest asset in getting people onto the platform.
There were desires to open up the platform prior, now it almost entirely forces you onto Signal exclusively and any discussion of other clients is expressely forbidden in its official support channels AND in it's unofficial (yet run by foundation members) channels like it's reddit sub
And yes, hopping on a shitty bandwagon of features its competitors have is a massive waste of dev hours and indicative of its downward trajectory
I feel since she took over, Signal has been on a steady downward trajectory. Increasing the barriers to use, more centralization instead of federation, and the stupid fucking Stories feature.
It's not a defense, it's just a character statement to be taken into account in sentencing. I too think Kutcher shouldn't have written it, but it's not any kind of defense of the charges
Your comment above around Dobbs kinda proves otherwise and that's a big part of the problem - the legislative branch has abdicated responsibility over the last ~25 years and have decided to instead politicize the judiciary so while the supreme Court has lost legitimacy in the eyes of many Americans, they unfortunately very much have the authority
I mean, sure, if you ignore 200 years of judicial precedent and radically reimagine the definition of the 2nd amendment.
So instead of ignoring reality, how about we push laws that severely restrict gun ownership as that actually has a chance of passing and being upheld and maybe some new precedent gets set that allows more, similar laws to further reign things in
No man is an island and policies that aim to better the nation's health are rarely for the benefit of the individual and rather are a way to benefit the masses by increasing productivity in the labor market, reducing healthcare costs, and generally making the nation more competitive on the international stage
A trust less system also can aid in stymieing wire fraud in real estate transactions which is shockingly common. Today, someone doesn't even have to have your private key to pretend to be you and steal your escrow funds - just a spoof email, good timing, and a paralegal that makes a mistake
Seems FigJam is somewhat popular in the space? It's an Adobe product now since they acquired Figma. There's also Miro and LucidChart that are popular
