  • Well, there is a way out of this. They can stop the anger being rightly directed at them, but they won't. The law is not in our hands, the law is not there to help us, and here we are.

BTW to be clear, I am not advocating violence. I am merely pointing out what many others see, we are reaching a breaking point and if compromise is not reached it will push past the point of no return leading to what you are so worried about. Which seems to be happening anyway with the far right starting to take power across the globe

  • I am not advocating for the world that we find ourselves in, which is a dark place. This is the first of many events that are going to happen due to the lack of care of the C suite that is robbing us at every chance and turning the legal system against everyone but themselves. This is a world of their making along with the consequences. Yes France was bloody due to the financial disparity between the rich and poor, all actions have consequences. The Americans also went through this with unions, where business interests murdered union reps and workers on strike, we came to a deal eventually but as always the deal was reneged. The social contract I "talk about in grandiose terms" was to keep us, rich and poor, from each others throats. It is in their hands what the population does, keep taking and not giving back, it will be taken from them.

When all other avenues fail, there is only one choice left. Most are not there yet, but more and more are getting to this point. Buckle up, it is going to be a rough ride.

  • The rich and the poor came to an agreement once upon a time, a social contract if you will. That contract was - You treat us with respect and pay us our worth, or we drag you into the street. The rich have broken that contract

  • Yes they are I had less issues installing then I did 15+ years ago. I'm just kicking myself for not going amd as they have good open drivers, I wish nvidia would do the same so some of the smart linux people could fix their drivers for us. The official drivers are the only ones I can use for the VR games tho, something to do with display priority and handling. Not as savvy as I once was

  • Sadly my VR library is missing 70 titles, but when I see the hardware poll thing come up i boot up my linux and run it. I keep hoping, and I feel this is no longer futile, that they will at least show up in my list and eventually work. Too bad I bought an RTX 4070ti super instead of an equivalent amd card, wasn't thinking of dropping windows at the time 🤬

  • Sisyphus

Not sure what I did, but man it is getting tiring pushing this boulder up this hill.

Note: Holy damn, never much for myth etc, all I ever knew of Sisyphus was the endlessly pushing a rock up hill. Now, after reading a very concise sentence, he DID deserve what he got. TIL

  • Yup, there definitely was. You could see it in the oh so unbiased BoTh SiDeS aRe ThE sAmE coverage from supposed left wing MSM, hint: there is no left MSM as there is no left in the States, it is either right of centre or full blown right wing anger politics with empty non answers.

  • Well, I hope they enjoy it.

    On the chopping block:

    • Social Security that has been paid into with the social contract that they will have some for their retirement
    • Medicare
    • Medicaid

Trump promised to lower cost of living by checks notes imposing tariffs on their major trading partners, hint: tariffs are paid by the company importing and ultimately by the citizens. None of the trading partners will take it, they will impose their own.

Hopefully there will be a next election and hopefully relations can be repaired

  • It is just funny to me, 1 man is 2 years younger than the other, they are both going senile and should have retired a long time ago. Soon as old man Biden stepped back the whole too old thing vanished. Either way, the voters made their choice at the ballot box or on their couches and now we will ALL have to pay that price, not just the US Americans.

1 side, tho flawed approach, would have left the order we have become accustomed to, the other side... well, actions have consequences and the incoming administration wants to, how did Elon put it?, give pain to the American people
