  • I like having my stable daily driver (currently PopOS) and a separate drive or partition for a rotating distro that may pose more of a learning curve (NixOS right now). So it doesn't really feel like hopping, more like a stable and a sandbox.

  • Solid points. I'm with you. I admit I am skeptical of all platforms. I operate from the assumption that we only hear about moderation when these platforms want to control content for other reasons. Moderation for hate speech could be as simple as moderation for porn, but it is not because it isn't about hate speech, it is about what the platforms can and can't control. Which was the point I was trying to make. Sorry if that got lost.

  • If we are talking platforms, then the employees of that platform. If we are talking federation, then the community and groups leading the communities. The consequences are the same as always. Bans for rule violations, and the freedom we all share to use or not use these platforms.

  • Maybe I'm alone here but don't we all typically use our best judgement when deciding whether telling the truth vs "nudging" the truth will work out better and if it is even worth the moral dilemma?

  • More Palestinians will die under Trump. More Americans will suffer under Trump. More people around the world will suffer with a Trump presidency. But at least you showed the democrats...

  • Biden won the 2nd district by 20k votes in 2020. He lost the 1st district by only 69k votes. If Democrats could turn out 150k more voters they could pick up the whole state. All these small population states are in play. It's their outsized representation in the electoral college that is the source of the gop even being in the race.

  • I feel that using housing as a commodity for building wealth is absolutely immoral. Homes should be owned by those who live in them. But investing is a personal choice. Some people choose to invest in immoral companies or practices. But what you buy with the money doesn't change what you funded to get it.

  • The Biden/Harris ticket had enough votes to win the democratic primary. Did anyone not think that voting for that ticket was also a vote for Harris in the case that the 81 year old candidate had to step down? That was indeed the case and here we are. What is the hangup?
