  • The best ones from my extended family was hedging their bets. They believe just in case their is. I hate to break it to them but if he is all knowing. Wouldn't he banish you anyway for not truly believing. But I didn't want to get into a fight so I dropped it. But I do laugh sometimes when I think of the Christian god as some kind of protection racket mobster.

  • While I agree you do run into XY problems alot I find another way is have them explain their use-case first. By just asking what is your ultimate goal you are trying to achieve. Then after knowing that answering their question to the best of my ability. Otherwise you waste their time ans yours answering the Y. Had one this week customer wanted to remotely view files stored in his local server. Company built out secure vpn and file server for said files. Customer then asks how does the public access these files. Customer really wanted was a website to download documents or public use.

  • Yeah I can't take the JJ universe seriously when they have that kind of product placement. When I like to have fun with world/lore building in star trek. I would say they do leave some of it intact. The same way we have Pioneer settlements like Cades Cove now or Williamsburg for historical purposes. Hell the Whitehouse is just a museum if it survived WW3.

  • Cool yeah the main problem everyone seems is someone installs debian stable get frustrated it's got old stable packages and trys to add testing Repo or a PPA from ubuntu and then brick their systems. If you have a good grasp you can mix repos.

Like my home desktop I run a mix of testing, unstable, and experimental and Pin stuff from unstable and experimental when needed. Note I would never do that going between stable and testing as the packages are too far apart depending on where we see in the release process. But since testing and unstable are normally just a fewer weeks off nothing breaks. But I treat it like I'm running on unstable like using apt-listbugs and apt-listchanges to confirm everything when I update.

  • Yeah I knew Esata could hotswap and motherboards with that can but not all motherboards are configured to have hot swap enabled the main problem is the power connector in a non Esata drive or without an enclosure plugging in a sata cable can jiggle the power cable and short something on a rare occasion.
