  • Yeah the problem with that model is the overhead to pick who gets the money would cut in to much. My thought is you want it you buy it. They could do it like humble bundle and have a slider to pay more if you want.

  • I 100% agree with this what we need is a centralized store like steam that is a non-profit. Where they make it easy just to buy the software. I love distros as much as the next person but having it centralized between all distros gets people paid. My only concern is how do we get the devs of libraries used by those apps use paid. And yes i know it sounds crazy it's open source how can you charge? Nothing in free and open source says you have to not charge. You just have to given them the source when you do so.

Even if someone can build it themselves for free. If you make the store a great experience to use. People will just buy. It's likely this i can go out and pirate any games I want. So from a monetary perspective it's the same. With a little work I could have my games for free but steam is so good i just buy the game.

  • It's important to remember when they say US intelligence is also the combined intelligence of US allies with intelligence sharing agreements. Whenever things were working before it was all blown up the intelligence worked so well because NATO+ block worked as a unit. That's why it was so important for Putin to deploy his operative to blowing up that alliance.

  • I don't want it as it makes posts feel hollow and evaporates any desire to engage. Since the Ai is not going to have a real option i value. So it just adds to noise and just looks like more sophisticated spam.

  • Yeah the company I work for is unlimited pto and it's the UK so i can deduct my UK tax from my usa tax. The weird part of not having an uk income. But die to having dual citizenship i don't need to show an income for immigration.

  • I would say there is two things at play here one is that you should have is simplifying the compliance requirements to make fraud easier to detect. Like for example in the US for disability if you have more than 2k in your bank account you lose disability.

All these requirements were created to show that a government will offer welfare when they really don't want to. If we just said if you make less than X you get help. It would be simple math and a SQL query to check for fraud. At the same time having a fraud team in that looks at businesses doing the fraud would be better served like with the US Medicaid fraud that dwarfs any fraud coming from individuals.

  • I got the first one and I love the idea with the doc and the buttons feel great and the connection is great but the ergonomics of the grips just does not work for my hands and the back buttons only mapped to other buttons makes them useless.
