  • To things that helps no mater your skill level the tab key is your best friend and man pages are great but if those are overwhelming install the package tldr then you can use the command tldr and the command you are trying to run to give you helpful examples of how to use that command.

Also old users don't remember long commands if we use a command more than once. You save it to your bash alias file to create your own commands.

  • Maybe but to clarify what I mean is try to remember something embarrassing happing about other people. Most people can't give an answer. But they can easily remember something embarrassing happening to themselves.

  • This is 100% true and well said. One tick I use with myself and tell others is think of something embarrassing or bad about yourself.

Then come up with something embarrassing you remember about someone else you in the last 5 years. 9 times out of 10 they can't remember anything. It shows the world is too busy reliving every mistake or rejection about themselves to even register anyone else.

Then I turn it around can you remember the last time you told yourself you did a good job. Then ask if they remember a time someone commented them or got called for doing a good job. Normally it's the complete 180 on answers. If we took the time to call ourselves out for being awesome more and stopped holding on to those mistakes we mad when we were 20's or hell 10s. We would believe a lot better off.

  • Don't switch your OS first switch your apps to cross platform apps first that work on both Linux and Windows for all your major tasks. Then after you feel good about it then switch to Linux and switch everything no dual boot for at least 6 months or you will switch at the slightest roadblock vs just troubleshooting like you would do if you ran into a roadblock on windows.

  • I wonder if that's like American football players started wearing helmets so they hit harder. So the one time they are not wearing the noodles they are going to wreck another goat or themselves.

  • It's interesting you bring that up i think the star trek instance are one of the fewer instances that get federation right. They carved out their niche and stuck to it. I kind of wished we would have gotten more of them like that.

Like the comics instance or the retro tech instance. Like you would go to the retro tech instance to the C64 community. So it would be logical how everything is broken out. Like old school forms for different subjects but they can also blend by talking to one another.

So many just want to be generic catch all's and it could be so much more.

  • I could not agree more like the early web before it became popular enough for corporations to take notice and start exploiting it. Cherish being under the radar and enjoy the community that's already here. More will come when they are ready just be ready to welcome them when they do.

  • Also parents can still be role models even if they are shit parents. You just flip the script from be like these people to a list of what not to do.

The fact you are asking this question shows great self awareness and that's half the battle right there.

  • Just to clarify one thing while i agree with you on some stuff this is not a remake it's a remaster. the OG game engine is running underneath and UE5 for just the updated models and terrain. The fact they are charging so much for it is what kills me. What this should have been is a $30 game of the year edition and maybe an discount or a free upgrade of you owned the original like they did with doom and quake remasters that nightdive did.
