  • To me, the definition of 'lame' meaning like a lame leg or something is too dated to be the first thing most people think of in most contexts.

  • Maybe Odysee is able to meet that purpose, maybe not. However, maybe you can use Jitsi to 'meet' your friends instead of posting private videos for them. Not sure if that's possible for you and your peeps, but it's there.

Otherwise the best solution I know of would be to self host because unless the service has some strange way to pay for server time (like Odysee's, which I don't exactly understand or Youtube's, which is selling identification tags of your mortal soul), you will always run into the same issues you've been having.

I haven't personally set up a personal server ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°), but I want to at some point. There are of course drawbacks in that you'll have to set it up and maintain it yourself (with help from internet strangers), but at least you can do whatever you want with it.

    https://cyberhost.uk/getting-started/#hardware

    https://www.howtogeek.com/846979/heres-why-self-hosting-a-server-is-worth-the-effort/

Also, you can use freecycle to hopefully get a used computer tower that's still capable of being a tiny server. You'll possibly have to get yourself and older gpu to make it work though, which can be had on ebay. I would get anything greater than or equal too a 750 GT (NVidia) or R7 260 / 260X (AMD), or maybe something a bit newer so you don't have to worry about it turning to dust when you first start using it.

    Good luck!

P.S. A lot of the right-wing conspiracy crap on Odysee can be found in the "lifestyle" and "education" sections. There are still some great channels like Louis Rossman, 3Blue1Brown and ElectroBOOM. Just the ones I know of. I suppose Odysee isn't the best for finding new channels...

  • I had a wisdom tooth removed when I was younger. They anaesthetized me, so I don't remember the actual surgery. Since you're removing three at a time, there will be a lot of swelling as you've probably been told. I would suggest you get some Soylent if possible, though that can get boring really quick. As others have said, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, soup, mashed potatoes, etc. I suppose you could also have regular meals and shove them in blender and eat that way.

I wouldn't sweat it with the surgery itself, it's such an old, well practised surgery there is very little that can go wrong.

  • Oh boy, time for our yearly provincial emergency declaration! ...Wait, wasn't this the second one this year? 🤔

  • Figures lol. Thanks for the heads up. (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞

  • As expected, pretty sure blue light filters are about sleep quality, not eye strain. Not that they matter much, with most devices having programmed in light filters now days.

  • I have a drill (with bits), screws, sand paper, and a hand saw. I think now I will use pocket holes in conjunction with glue, or perhaps buy some dowels and use those.

  • Pssst, hey.

    Wanna buy some Soylent?

  • If you don't like doing dishes, look into Soylent. You'll just have to clean the cup you mix it in, the thing you mix it with (I use a rechargeable milk frother) and sometimes the bowl you measure it in.

  • Thanks for your input! I do have some wood screws lying around, so that might be easier then messing about with glues. Cheers!

  • Thanks for the link, I'll look into that! However, I don't have the tools to make an attempt at joinery.

  • Yes, sorry! I had all that in there at one point... much too tired. Basically I want to avoid using polyurethane and PVA (a tall order, I know).

I haven't ordered the lumber yet, but I plan on getting some 5/4 S2S soft maple.

I wish I had the tools and skills to do joinery, but not yet. I'll be rough sanding the edges to get rid of whatever chafe is left and to fair them, then I'll glue them edge to edge. I'll then sand down the rest of it so that it's all pretty much true, and finish with a spirit varnish.

Finally, I'll drill pilot holes for the screws that attach it to the base of the desk.
