  • I was on emby some time ago and got sick of user issues, I tried jellyfin before that but it was worse. Very interested to know how both compare to Plex now (since maybe 4ish years ago) as I'd be very open to switching back.

I think I'd avoid emby though as I found the developer to be an annoying weirdo at times when trying to communicate.

  • Because that's really just to be expected at this point, and what his audience would want..

Better to focus on constantly poking at him for being dumb, which he and his fans hate, rather than give them what they want, ie being upset at their hateful language

  • I think they've done them a favour in a way. If this was day one then it might hurt them but they're past the point of like 90% of their sales I bet, and now pegi looking like incompetent dinosaurs is just a free second wave of social media exposure

  • I'm about to be installing my 3rd usb c on my fairphone because using my earphones all day phone in pocket kills the port. I've used devices like this mostly daily since mini discs came out, only ever broken one 3.5mm in that time.

If I didn't have a fairphone I'd have to go back to wireless iem over crappy Bluetooth that last about 12-18 months.

  • Coming to Lemmy means losing some of the really well supported niche communities from Reddit of old and that was the biggest hit of leaving, but the site being such cancer now I wonder how well they are doing anyway.

Lemmy, once you've blocked 90% of the weird tankies, really does feel like Reddit from 10+ years ago in the comments. It's just a shame due to its current small size how single minded the general feed often feels. Hopefully that improves

  • I guess when you consider global pop and how many overall die from violence then it makes the number look quite small.

However I think due to the nature of these deaths, committed by a person in the victims life who should be at best a source of protection and safety, it's pretty fucking grim to consider.

  • Also here in Europe this is the type of construction we use for a garden shed, not a house.

Even when we do modern timber frame, it's generally still brick or block at the bottom. How long do these houses last in the US? I imagine a lot of the continent is pretty humid
