Someone found some issue that needs fixed yesterday and there is some important customer complaining about it so I'll be busy for the next three and a half weeks
I know it's not exactly the point of the article but for a lot of things, I reckon a good amount of 'innovation' was pretty pointless. I personally don't think I ever needed anything that Office 2003 can't do... (Of course I don't use any MS office to begin with but you get the point)
Samsung means: can't do shit in the US, limited shit outside of the US. AFAIK most custom ROMs, especially for higher end Samsung's are OneUI based. They also make it difficult (or impossible?) to use VoLTE/VoNR with custom ROMs because of their own proprietary IMS stack
I agree on the part that Musk sucks, OpenAI also sucks.
And yup, open source (if you can really call them that, I’d say they’re more like openly available) locally hosted LLMs are cool and have gotten pretty efficient nowadays.
My 5 year old M1 MacBook Pro runs models like Qwen3:14b at decent speeds and it’s quite capable (although I only ever use it for bullshitting lol).
I don’t think the video was bad and I’m glad desktop Linux is getting a good amount of attention this way.
But…
I feel like he didn’t exactly show windows users what really expects them on Mint (which is a very similar but in many ways better and quite easy experience). This might be off putting to some unconvinced Windows users.
His Hyprland setup looks cool if you’re into that sorta thing but it’s just not what users just switching to mint, fedora, whatever might be looking for.
Reality:

No thanks
