  • Well, no. It's a full-blown Debian VM running on your portable Linux-based device, with its own virtual network adapter that accesses the internet via NAT through your phone's physical network adapter. Just like a VM on a normal server.

The terminal program used to access said VM happens to be a web app. Very much like Spice, NoMachine, and others. You can even SSH into it from Termux if you forward the port.

  • Ah, that's a good point. The full tower version has space for that, though.

I'm not saying you should get an Optiplex 7050 specifically, but a used office PC tower (like an Opitplex, HP Elitedesk, Lenovo Thinkcenter, etc) can be picked up for under $500, ready to go, and has more than enough processing power to handle the loads you're asking of it. Plus, they usually have Intel's AMT management option (aka "vPro"), which allows you to remotely manage the PC even when it's powered off.

  • Syncthing never had an official Android app, and the current iteration, Syncthing-Fork, is updated quite frequently.

I try to stay away from the play store at this point. Even Tasker is sourced from the dev himself (license is like $4, absolutely worth it), and is more capable than the play store version.

  • Guys.

Learn the saying: "A grand jury would indict a ham sandwich"

There is good reason to believe that they could be going through with it to set precedent that a judge cannot be arrested for following due process.

Edit: also, a "grand" jury is not some bigshot court thing; it has nothing to do with having more authority than a trial jury. Instead, it's called such in the context of size - a grand jury usually has 16+ members as opposed to the typical 6-12 members of a trial jury.
