  • The whole point behind it was that everything was too slow to handle it efficiently themselves in an uncontrolled manner. When networks and computers got faster we started using ethernet.

  • They intended to make people think about the gameplay. Which you did. A lot of people will take that as a challenge.

  • The MAU turned a physical star topology into a logical ring topology.

Moving to star was more of an assistance to physical installs

  • Wireless charging always generates more heat than wired charging but it's not always a significant amount.

Wired charging ports get dirty, wear out

Batteries last longer with slower charges.

Batteries last longer with less charges

Batteries last longer If they never leave a moderate temperature.

Batteries last longer if they never drop below 20% and never go above 80%

Batteries last longer when stored if they are stored at 50% charge.

Putting that all in check you can take a couple year old phone to a fix it place and have the battery replaced. And they can also replace your wired charging port if necessary.

  • Just because they're underfunded doesn't mean they lack teeth. SpaceX isn't launching in the US without them.

  • I use Jellyfin for all my video but I use Plex for my audio. Plex app is just so much better than finamp.

  • It's about right for the price.

If they have $380 and what a $380 computer it will serve.

  • You can probably add an iPad and an Android tablet there too.

  • I'm not talking about VR companies I'm talking about Mojang.

The teams that Mojang keeps to work on the platforms cost more than the income from the people using those clients.

If you make a game, and you decide to support Mac, and Mac only brings in $500 a month but you have to pay somebody $3,000 a month to maintain the client, You're losing $2,500 a month for that particular market segment.

Nothing says you have to get rid of those people or that client, But it's a fiscally sound decision.

  • 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 65 75 80 85 90 95 100

  • Or honestly, just block them and save yourself the pain of dealing with them in the future the next time they're riled up.

I don't hold it against them but why listen to the noise if you can just get signal?

  • It's math. The amount of money they're spending on supporting the VR platforms is less than the amount of money they make for the people on those platforms. They probably have to dedicate several multi-person teams to manage the clients.

Linux has some pretty good hedging going on with steam deck.

  • I've been trying to unravel my Google workspace for months now to head toward proton. I've signed up for so many things that use my workspace for auth

  • Every time I talked myself into it they ended up raising the rate. I've stopped trying to talk myself into it.

  • Reading the descriptions on the dark patterns and dark social patterns, That's actually the stuff I miss about world of Warcraft.

  • It always hit me kind of weird that getting a sci-fi novel without sex required me to read YA

  • Depends on whose graph you're looking at

  • I don't like shareholders calling the shots. They just went from eventually needing to make enough money to keep the doors open and the staff paid to needing to make as much money as possible whenever the investors say it's time.
