  • I will never understand how people can blindly defend Biden, or even think that the destruction of infrastructure on a massive scale is business as usual. Or cannot be stopped under any circumstance.

Perhaps you and others have no clue of the extent of the damage , or perhaps you don’t care? Perhaps it makes you feel better to think nothing could be done.

Honestly feel contempt at this moment

  • Who knows? I would like to think that; my point is, that if Biden officially recognized what was happening , and made it a point to try to stop the damage, then lots of options come open after that.

But, he ignored that: we will never know

  • He could have allowed criminal charges against DeJoy, it’s hard to keep one’s position if convicted and serving a multi year sentence.

DeJoy destroyed so much of the infrastructure that he could have easily been charged for dozens of things, even murder when prescribed medications were lost by the tens of thousands due to the backlogs he created.

  • He could have, but had excuses. There were always excuses here, there , in hundreds of things that were not done, never intended to be done.

Ultimately it was worth more to allow the sabotage to continue rather than pay the political price.

  • This is all true, but unless ranked choice and paper ballots are used in a lot of states, which will never happen, then all this will become is a money making party to run failed elections.

USA federal politics is broken. Full stop. It cannot be resurrected. Democracy exists in some states but not others, and the Democratic Party rules in the states which are not lost causes.

One cannot run a federal government with many of the red states having their own cabals of mini authoritarian arseholes. Those red states and many of the purple states are lost causes

  • The mit license allows a mix of public and commercial code run by the same company, with minimal legal issues. One can use other tactics I am sure, but this one seems good when the commercial code absolutely needs the public code .

I think some confusion here can be resolved by stating this is anti foss, taking advantage of foss, it is capitalism taking advantage of having a good code base while making sure any contribution from outside the company is minimized. At the same time it gives my company absolute control over the private part.

Usually get into arguments here! I’m not defending it, but am saying open source would be less without.

  • Speaking for myself, it’s because future monetization can be easier under mit when using a foss utility and private code.

My project would not exist at all unless there were ways to make money off it.

True, others can also use that same code too, in the exact same way, but that requires quite the investment, and those of us that are doing this are banking on not getting the interest of a monopoly in that way. We are competing against other small businesses who have limited resources.

At the same time the free part can get a boost by the community.

I comment a lot in politics here, and am sometimes an ass, so cannot name this project

  • I was surprised ice was working with other agencies to raid her apartment and arrest her. She could ignore ice, by not answering the door, but could not have ignored the others.

  • Tri-state allows us to have the unjust legal two state system, while now being yanked out of court altogether for fun and games.

The way it normally works is that at first, the people bring yanked will be only the occasional political protester, or some other rare thing. Most people will never have to deal with this.

But it gets worse, it always gets worse every time this develops, and it is hard to undo.

But even when it’s worse, most people will not be switched over, but the fear of that happening will persist.

  • I don’t think so; just a lot of quiet suffering and a storm of online activity.

People will have no clue what to do, no leaders to help them, and no support to protest.

So, no mass protests except by a few in very large cities like we have already seen the last few years

  • He is not wrong. Unless people start to take steps , the dependency of tech will be used to chain most of us. Granted, these chains will be the kindest and gentlest chains seen in a long time.

Social revolution lives on in decentralized services, like this; the true battles will be later though. This year is a mild warm up. I can’t imagine the challenges that await many
