  • I dont really have problems with YT in Firefox. Just use brave because it’s on my “watching stuff” monitor. Brave did seem to work better during that period where they were being more aggressive about ad blockers but I haven’t seen that for a while.

  • Yea, I dont really have problems with YT in Firefox. Just use brave because it's on my "watching stuff" monitor. Brave did seem to work better during that period where they were being more aggressive about ad blockers but I haven't seen that for a while.

  • Agreed. It shouldn't be this way but it is and they should act as such. The consumers are the only ones who don't benefit from being corrupt pieces of shit so I think it's fair to blame them for enabling it. If they took a stand we wouldn't be in this mess.

  • It's just like everything else with technology. As soon as the "normies" start buying into it everything goes to shit. They don't know what to look for and just buy whatever's easiest. Once it gets that far the manufacturers can do whatever they want

  • I appreciate the fact that you went through your reasoning in such detail. Most of the time people are just like "use xxxx" with nothing more and comments like that are pretty worthless for someone with little familiarity with Linux.

  • Is it right to keep the dna of millions stored to prevent or capture a handful of potentially dangerous individuals.

No. Who decides what's a "potentially dangerous" individual? Obviously rapists and murderers are a low bar but what if they decide to start using it for lesser crimes or protesters? Or to persecute "undesirables"? Our current administration is a great example of why having this information available to the government is a terrible idea. Any safeguards can easily be stripped away.

  • I've exclusively worked out from home for the last 5 years using only an adjustable dumbbell set and a foldable bench (I recently got a exercise bike too but that is a new addition). I'm not huge or anything but I get compliments on my physique fairly often. For me when I tried getting a gym membership I found myself missing days a lot because I didn't feel like going anywhere. I can force myself to work out or I can force myself to go out but apparently not both at once. Just doing everything at home I almost never miss a day. The only downside is space. I'd like to get a squat rack but I don't have room for it.

Your goals sound very achievable at home. I would say I am "lean and fit". I will also say the lean part comes from your diet so make sure you are mindful of that as well.

  • I wait til I'm sleepy which is usually around 10ish. If it's the weekend I push through that and squeeze out as much free time as possible but I wouldn't say it feels good usually around 1-2 am I actually feel pretty shitty to the point I have a hard time getting to sleep.

  • Yeah, I'm not arguing with you, it's just a pain in the ass to deal with. I don't mind seeding the shit I download at all but it shouldn't be a fucking competition when it's a requirement to download stuff. Obviously they're not hurting for seeders. IMO a better metric would be having a required seeding time (which they do anyway) and let you download as much as you want as long as you seed it long enough. Like you said I'll never hit a positive ratio, even doing things your way I doubt I'd find enough shit I wanted to build up a big ratio. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and rely mainly on public trackers and use the private ones only when I can't find what I'm looking for. I actually have quite a high ratio on both the private trackers I use just from seeding stuff for a long time and trading points in so I can download stuff, it just doesn't help my ratio.

  • For that to work I'd have to know what I'm looking for in advance... I don't really have enough media exposure for that. I usually find out about shows/movies I might be interested in after they've been out for months.

  • I have yet to get a positive ratio on anything I've ever downloaded from a private tracker. Always have to sit and wait to accumulate points in their seeding time system... It's annoying because otherwise I'd be seeding a lot more shit for them.

  • The only time I found a wallet I returned it to the owner. The owner was suspicious as fuck towards me and treated me like I had stolen it even though everything was still in it. I literally picked it up off the ground, looked at the drivers license, and headed inside the store to see if they could page him and ran into him on the way in. The people I told about it were all pissed towards me for actually returning it and not just stealing the money.. It was basically unanimous that I was wrong for doing this and some of these people were friends I thought were good people up until that point. It really fucked up my faith in other people. Next time I'll just leave it be.
