  • Gun control works.

And OK maybe it doesn't solve the problem 100%, but it solves it 99%, and that's a lot of schoolkids that aren't dead any more. Look at any first world country for working examples; I'm in the UK, and yes we still have some gun violence, but it's a whole load less than it would have otherwise been.

And it's incredibly short sighted to reject any solution that doesn't solve a problem 100%. Partial solutions are good.

  • I think all football players should be forced to second in rugby. That'll stop them rolling around in mock agony from tripping over a blade of grass.

  • What a dumb message. Of course this is not a drill. This is a phone. My drill doesn't have the means to accept incoming messages.

  • f''(x) is 78x+22 but the question asks what number is f''(x) + x, hence 79x+22.

  • No, that's Anatoly.

  • Not necessary. After the first round of billionaires has been dispatched, their nepo babies will see the writing on the wall and sign it over quite willingly without any kind of coercion.

  • I think that's why we need to start light. Really widens that line out a lot, and when you do overdo it and hurt yourself it won't be by much. Working to failure is good; it means you've done all you can and aren't slacking off by not working hard enough, and the best definition of "failure" I've seen is "form breakdown", e.g. you can't control the weights, or you need to start swearing to do another rep. Work until you can't, then stop. As you get used to exactly where that line is, you can go heavier.

Personally I'm using 3 sets of 15 as a guideline. If I can't get anywhere near that then it's too heavy. If I can nearly do it then I need to keep working on it. If I can routinely exceed that then it's time to go heavier.

IANAPT, started on this a few months ago, just sharing what I've picked up so far. Of course there are lots of different views on how many sets of how many reps you should do, but bear in mind what works for A won't necessarily work for B, especially if A is a chiselled Greek god and B is a somewhat lardy me who can literally roll up to the gym.

  • Couples can do different things at the same time. It doesn't mean the relationship is over, on the contrary it means you're both comfortable with the other being independent. If you both like Chinese and Mexican, have Chinese this time and Mexican next. Or as you say, order from two different places. If you always have Mexican then she's getting her way all the time which isn't meeting halfway.

Women do seem to like showing of their husbands. So you'll need to go places with her sometimes, providing that you also get some restful weekends at home where she is either present or off with her girlfriends somewhere. If you don't ever want to do stuff with her then she's right to be concerned: why did you get together if you don't actually want to be together?

Where to draw the line: I'd suggest keeping count. If you compromise all the time and she never does, then that would suggest something of a lopsided relationship. But as others have said, you don't want to count everything otherwise you'll be the asshole.

  • Maybe what's confusing is that it's called the South China Sea. Not surprising really that China thinks it's theirs. Let's rename it to the Brunei Sea or something, then that'll clarify the situation and solve all the problems.

  • Department of Gastric Enclosures?

  • Is that your own imagery, from drone footage for example, or are you basically copying Google Earth?

  • Of course not, it's just Spez sucking up to the billionaires in the hope that one of them will be dumb enough to toss him a few million for his shitpile.

  • That's about as accurate as stating all libs are commies. Or perhaps you had a specific country's political system in mind?

  • So tempting to name a country that rhymes with Erika. But I won't.

  • Posteo was the winner when I last looked over the alternatives, although I haven't switched yet. Tuta, mailbox.org and Runbox were runners up.

Various reasons (mostly price, provider getting blocked too much, and being in the USA) led to a hard "no" for CounterMail, Soverin, Mailfence, StartMail, Fastmail, Proton, RiseUp, Hushmail, Skiff and Mail.com.

It's likely you don't need a VPN. You're putting a lot of trust in that company; make sure it's well founded. I just use my ISP for normal stuff, then when I want to surf under the radar for one reason or another I open up Tor.

  • I don't remember how many hours I sank into that game on my Amiga. Loved it.
