  • I see you dodged ~99% of my comment and a plethora of serious issues. This should be an introspective warning-sign for your own cognitive dissonance.

Please then admit that you don't care about:

    • Climate Change
    • Immigrant's Rights
    • Women's Rights
    • LGBTQ+ rights
    • Ukrainian civilian lives

It did not. At all. At any point.

Then I'll just repeat what was deflected so that it is clear now:

    • Did Harris move the embassy to Jerusalem? -- NO,
    • Did Harris tell Bibi to, "Finish the Job" like Trump? -- NO,
    • Did Trump say that Palestinians deserve self-determination like Harris did? -- NO.
    • Did Harris work to undermine the ceasefire agreements ahead of the election like Trump? -- NO.
    • Did AIPAC and Bibi think Harris was better for them than Trump? -- NO.

This made all the more obvious by Musk dumping over $70 million in ads into Pennsylvania alone, targeting both Jewish and Muslim communities with literally opposite attack messages on Harris. If that doesn't hint to the dilemma Harris was in in trying to win this election because of the fucked up Electoral College, then I don't know what to tell you except to say you are as complicit in the Ukrainian genocide as you claim Harris is with Gaza.

    • Harris > Trump on Gaza (and the probability of actually effecting future change, notably).
    • Harris > Trump on Women's Rights.
    • Harris > Trump on LGBTQ+ Rights.
    • Harris > Trump on Immigrants' Rights.
    • Harris > Trump on Ukrainian Genocide perpetrated by Russia.
    • Harris > Trump on Climate Change. (You realize this will kill more people than Gaza in the long-run, right?)

    Moreover:

    • Did Harris move the embassy to Jerusalem? -- NO,
    • Did Harris tell Bibi to, "Finish the Job" like Trump? -- NO,
    • Did Trump say that Palestinians deserve self-determination like Harris did? -- NO.
    • Did Harris work to undermine the ceasefire agreements ahead of the election like Trump? -- NO.
    • Did AIPAC and Bibi think Harris was better for them than Trump? -- NO.

Why was this not easy for you? It was CAKE for me, and I care about Gazans, too. There was no magical fairy-tale alternative candidate; this was a binary election. It seemed quite obvious that Harris resented Bibi and the actions of Palestine — but was between a rock and a hard place.

This made all the more obvious by Musk dumping over $70 million in ads into Pennsylvania alone, targeting both Jewish and Muslim communities with literally opposite attack messages on Harris. • Probably correct; but then it's important to inoculate the next batch of political newcomers from this rhetoric; to understand the sheer short-sighted ignorance of this group.

After all, we know Jill Stein will suddenly be back in the spotlight conveniently in 4 years, following perhaps another round-table with Putin, Peskov, Flynn, and a bunch of other very stable kind people.

These people need named and shamed for being complicit in enabling Trump's reelection while also exacerbating not just the genocide in Gaza but also Ukraine. It should be an embarrassment.

  • Well since you voted for Harris, I guess you're not whom I'm speaking to, now, are you? Why then are you making this about you?

  • Inb4 uncommitted try to claim Harris would've implemented this too and made Gaza even worse because they're totally 100% serious.

  • When you're paintballing so hard you almost die. This is something I can appreciate.

Brings back good memories of playing woodsball. That shit is more taxing than people realize!

  • You’re stupid if you’re unhappy with the status quo. You’re stupid if you have a problem with genocide.

Nah. Not what I said. You can be concerned with these things as I am but still find the choice to vote for Harris very easy.

You’re stupid if you can’t afford groceries!

You may be ignorant if you believe grocery prices were in the control of Biden / Harris, especially in the wake of a divided Congress. Even so, the choice to vote for Harris should've been incredibly easy.

Can’t you see that billionaires are doing just fine?

Yes, the rich are the problem. I agree. Still should've been easy to vote for Harris as opposed to not vote, vote 3rd party, or vote Trump.

You’re stupid if you notice that the party abandoned you and still demands unearned perfect fealty no matter what they do.

All this skirts the underlying point: for anyone who supposedly saw what Harris and Trump were selling and found the choice difficult — even in spite of all those aforementioned factors — then you’re kind of a moron ignorant. Ethically; logically… Zero sense. I'll rephrase because at least ignorance suggests one can change.

  • I think the DNC sucks and messaging could've been better.

But I frankly also believe that for anyone who supposedly what Harris and Trump were selling and found the choice difficult then you're kind of a moron. Ethically; logically... Zero sense. Yes, Stagnation is infinitely better than fascism intentionally sabotaging the system.

So I choose to hope people actually didn't know how good Harris was relative to how bad Trump was because mostly rich white men control the vast majority of what people see.

People need to remember.. The demographics of Lemmy let's just say aren't even remotely reflective of the American electorate. You're lucky if people watch more than the Fox News in their physician's waiting room or work breakroom, supplemented by their social media feed and YouTube algorithm peddling Red-pilled incel bullshit and trash like Joe Rogan.

Like, do you think people are actually tuning into AP or NPR or BBC or ProPublica investigations? You think they're reading long form written journalist pieces or PBS Frontline documents ties? Fuuuuck no. It's closer to work-drink-sports-talk shows-church-work-bar-sports-social media, rinse repeat.

  • Strict Scrutiny is highly praised. I've only heard them as guests on other shows though.

  • The party is dead until they figure out a way to even the media landscape. Harris was a very good candidate with a good campaign relative to the binary alternative option.

But it doesn't matter because Republicans control the narrative on everything and it doesn't help that Democrats blow at messaging and recognizing the all-out war we're in.

  • I'm confused because Snopes is saying they're now saying staffing was in control? Wondering who got pressured to change their report.

  • 2-3 days. Where we used to live in the mountains we'd loser power half a dozen times during the winter. Kind of enjoyed it. Everything slowed down, you hunkered down, and appreciated lost activities.

Still, we were never really without all power as my dad could run some appliances off his welding machine acting as a generator.

  • Just IMAGINE if this happened under a Biden or Obama administration.

Republicans would be losing their collective shit. They'd probably have some DEFCON level on the fox news ticker for a year straight.

  • I've never understood why "Not Republicans" isn't enough, frankly.

Criticism of center-right Third Way corporatists aside, one would have to be half braindead to believe a chasm still doesn't separate the two. I mean, if you could go back and take milquetoast over Hitler, wouldn't you?

I mean it was basically Stagnation vs. Fascism if viewing Dems in the worst light this cycle (and that's being harsh). Gee... Tough choice.

Instead let's take a step back and recognize the superseding problem: if you don't fix the skewed media landscape, then it really doesn't matter who you run or what policy you run because reality is being distorted by the right wing propaganda machine.

Harris was better than Trump in literally every single way. Trump could do no wrong in the electorate's eyes while Harris had to be perfect. Can't win with that uphill battle / double-standard.

There's a reason the education gap widened this election. People who had critical-thinking skills to sort truth from bullshit understood this.

  • When I went to a retirement ceremony for a relative in the military a while back, a nearby conference room was doing a presentation to military personnel on ethics surrounding LGBTQ+, a Biden DEI initiative.

I recall my relative's friend when we got in the car afterward crying about that and why he's retiring, etc. Big time Trumper lowlife dipshit.

I'm a straight white dude but fuck sake, it would be hard for me to be surrounded by dipshits like that. To be reliant on bigots like that in battle? We're not sending our best.

  • Play stupid games; win stupid prizes. He had a gun and resisted arrest. They're the ones who promoted this society and tough guy police in the first place. People see some poetic karma.

Sorry bud, I'm not losing sleep over this one.

  • Its datasets for that are probably lacking lol but retrainable?

  • It's a good thing their odds are so much better under Donald then, huh.

I'm sure he'll listen to their grievances, amirite?

Also I'm sure they'll care more about Putin's ongoing genocide in Ukraine, yes? As Trump suspends all future aid not already allocated to Ukraine, it doesn't look good, Cotton.

  • Oh lots trying to wedge drive. The Stein and uncommitted voters were a big presence. Many of them have very quickly shut up since the election. Golly, how curious.
