  • I used to be with it until they changed what it is. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what's it is weird and scary. It'll happen to you!

  • Hopefully game developers stick to their guns and start migrating future projects and training to other engines like Godot. They played their hand once I wouldnt trust them to not screw you in the future

  • Oh yeah they have muscle implants, butt implants, you name it.

That said these abs dont even look close to fake. A lot of the extra definition is the result of her having just worked out and having a pump, being sweaty and shiny, flexing, and the angle and lighting. I suspect even headon it probably would look more like a 4 pack and if she were to adjust her posture and angle it would turn into a relatively flat mildly defined belly. Thats how 6packs be tho. People chase them so hard but even when you reach the level when you can get them you're usually one flare up of gas, or drink away from them melting away. It's doesnt make it any less impressive though getting abs is hard, just like the weird reaction that shes some kind of like professional level body builder on steroids or needing implants to get that far is silly.

No those are the abs of someone who works out a lot.

  • Yeah but its faster than just regular 2g. You can load not ridiculously sized images on edge. On 2g? Enjoy your wait.

  • It's not that either. You really should give it a watch it's actually surprisingly good despite it's superficial appearance.

  • If you respect the goose the goose will respect you. Those who have no respect will be dealt with.

  • Can they just pay their damn workers and not make it come to this? The used car market is only starting to recover from the covid shortage induced craziness.

  • Yeah movie and tv have the director keeping the things that are meant to be in focus in focus and the the lens blur can create an aesthetic and emulate an eyes field of vision. Even then sometimes if there is a lot of camera movement it isnt great.

With games you're in control of the camera and youre taking in a lot of visual data from all over the screen in a way that movie and tv shows dont.

  • a standalone induction cooktop like the Breville Control Freak will do a way better job,

at $1,499.95 for a single burner it better damn well.

  • I have an LG c1 and the apps and start page dont bother me too much. The remote gives you easy quick launch options and I just immediately boot into my PC anyway and then use the remotes quick launch features to hop into the streaming apps I used to use(because DRM makes browser streaming a hassle especially on linux).

My beef with my smart tv is that basic settings are not hidden behind sub menus under submenus under submenus. Want to blank my screen? Adjust some picture settings a smidge? Audio stuff? Best to google it cause stuff that used to be front and center on my old tvs is either missing or buried deep down.

I dont think they charge extra for the smartness either. A 55 inch 4k tcl tv can be had for under $500, and those have roku cooked in. MY c1 was all about the hardware as well.

  • Hard disagree. There is a huge difference between the convenience of having a camera on you at all times and giving control of all of your services to a single provider or company that then locks you in.

It's not like the different apps make my phone take up more space in my pocket.

  • I dont understand the obsession with grouping everything in one place. Like I know why companies do it because the current philosophy is to have you eternally in their ecosystem and to never leave their site/app or do anything else and continue to monitor.

I just dont understand why people would buy into such nonsense. Like why would I want to have my wallet and money tied into a damn chat app. Why would I want to use a chat app to hail a cab and go shopping? It'd be better to have multiple services that do the one thing well rather than 100.

  • I have a ceramic cast iron dutch oven that I use a lot and it's pretty good so far 2 years in, but I am always a little concerned that one day it will start chipping and that'll be the end for my pot.

  • Personally I moved away from teflon back to steel and I cant go back. In addition to no longer having to baby it to keep the thing from going from nonstick- to stick and being able to scrub that badboy. On top of that going from plastic and silicon spatulas back to a metal spatula is just incredible.

That said if youre a novice cook and dont want to clean dishes then a stainless steel can sometimes require some scrubbing(though you can usually mitigate this by adding water while hot and essentially deglazing the shmutz off

  • Yes it is! This is what I get for passively reading threads while watching tv.

  • There was an ama? Do you happen to have a link or know which subinstance it was on?

  • You're expected to save for their college education while paying college tuition when theyre a baby. And then you hear dipsticks going out there wondering why people arent having more kids!

  • I feel the same way. I understand that beehaw follows its own path and goals and it's genuinely what I like about this instance. I love the moderation and the fact that you all dont put up with BS from users trying to bait you into semantic wars or drama about free speech. I like that the main rule is just be(e) nice and that as a major instance on lemmy it does help set a tone.

That said I dont know if I'd follow beehaw off the fediverse.

  • I think the thing thats frustrating about the conservative baby shaming game is that they could probably easily get more people to have kids if they supported social programs that would make it easier. Thinks like universal childcare and student loan debt forgiveness.

And that's on top of the ludicrous cost of living in a lot of the country. But even if you move into a more affordable city you still have the cost of student loans and if both parents work the cost of childcare. And the cost of childcare is insanity. Like ten to twenty THOUSAND dollars extra a year.

  • Apps became popular in the early days of ios and android for a few reasons.

Network speeds at the time were slower so you could save a lot of loading time by downloading the "app version" of a product and essentially having all of the images and media essentially preloaded to a device.

Hardware was a lot weaker in those early days of smartphones by a large margin so it also helped to have an optimized version of your website even if that website was something that was otherwise basic. If you had social features there was also the benefit of better integrated notifications(which browsers have now but didnt back in 06/07). Also the internet of the mid to late 00s was riddled with mouse centric hover menus, and Flash multimedia and this was not mobile phone friendly.

Then there is just marketing. Theres an app for that! Its funny that ios traps people in so thoroughly into not using another message app than what's built in when the early days of the iphone were marked with downloading and exploring all kinds of different apps. Android emulated this approach and even before advertisers and businesses realized they could lock users in and track everything they did there was a rush to make apps simply because smart phone users wanted apps. I remember working customer service for a website years ago and our site worked fine on mobile and I had some customers complain because "apps are the future" and its like I dont see why you'd need a purpose built app for this one site, and for our many faults our mobile experience is actually pretty solid!

Of course after all was said and done there was a revelation made by the new age era of social media and web development. You could use dedicated apps as a way to track people to sell advertising dollars and also make it easier to keep them captive specifically on your service. Afterall they arent even using a browser to access your stuff theyre using your app to access your service, and get notifications, and get custom tailor made advertising and content and stay on your app forever and ever and ever.
