If it's a higher speed than the 64GB one in your Switch, it could make sense to replace it with the new 256GB one for slightly faster game loading times.
If you had a rooted Android I would have suggested using the SD card for primary photo storage, and app backups/"timeshift-like" restore. I use mine for both, as well as offline maps, app data, and some LLaMA models before the AI LLM novelty wore off
It was developed prior to Kbin having a proper API for user interactions, and thus only worked on the developer's instance - which was running a modified Kbin version with some APIs implemented.
I believe it's all packed up shop now due to the developer's instance unexpectedly going offline, and possibly some IRL circumstances with the dev... more info here: https://wedistribute.org/2023/12/artemis-shuts-down/
These software-defined vehicles need way more work and polish put into them IMO, but to be honest I'd rather these companies just give us something basic, simple, and electric that works reliably.
Toyota did it with the Prius vehicles, particularly the older models, can't be that hard?
Also infotainment systems should absolutely not be sharing core vehicle functionality, particularly if they can't be turned off in the case of this article - only option left to the user is a "deep sleep" that might fix the problem if the vehicle is locked for 5 minutes 🤦♂️
When my parents' "dumb" LG TV became faulty, I asked them to keep it so I could repair it and use it myself.
Best decision ever. The issue was just down to a dodgy connection to the LCD panel, just needed a thin shim material in there and the issue was solved. I added a fan in there too since it gets really hot, and also now run it on the lowest brightness (which is still pretty visible during daytime) since the old CCFL backlights kick out a ton more heat when cranked up
It's just over a decade old now and still going strong, currently hooked up to a Steam Link in the bedroom for streaming from other machines in the house, a Miracast/EZCast HDMI dongle for casting from my phone, and finally to my PS2.
Apple HomeKit does something similar with BLE devices - if your phone goes out of range, they'll connect to the closest Apple TV or HomePod to get internet access
Lemmy 0.19.0 and higher have an export button in the web interface settings that'll back up most of the stuff on your account. If your instance isn't on that version yet, you'll have to wait for the admins to upgrade.
I used this to migrate my account from my old instance - it carries over your subscriptions, blocked communities, blocked users, saved posts, saved comments, display name, profile description, and theme applied 👌
Pretty much everything you'd want, except your own posts and your own comments, but those don't matter to me too much.
People on lemmy.world (running lemmy 0.18.5) will need to use something else to migrate their account, like lasim: https://github.com/CMahaff/lasim
I've used Florisboard on my device for a few years now, and completely shocked at how barebones the stock Android and Samsung keyboards are...
It can undo, redo, cut, paste, select all, view/insert clipboard history, clear clipboard, and swipe to move the cursor within text. Standard stuff like voice input and swipe typing are here too.
Admittedly it's not perfect, and probably not ideal for most casual users in its current state, but I just can't go back to a standard keyboard after using this feature rich one for so long
That's why in well designed systems, the price is different at rush hour, and for high traffic routes and times.
Introducing something variable or unpredictable into public transit would probably deter a few people from using it
From an efficiency perspective this makes sense, but I don't like it to be honest. The long distance trains do that here and it's very off putting, although I can understand why - the trains are already usually very overcrowded, long and don't fit in most stations, no funding is available to extend the platforms any further, and companies can't buy newer, denser, faster trains because the railway electrify project is decades late...
As an alternative I'd propose increasing the frequency of the trams if possible, or maybe even use longer trams during those times if the stops are suitably long
It's a very nice thing to have, but I do worry about the effect this has on the EMMC storage in mobile devices, which has a finite lifetime - particularly for larger cross-platform apps, seeing as two of my previous android devices failed from worn out EMMC.
At the moment I just check F-Droid notifications and manually update each app on a biweekly basis, unless there's an urgent fix or something
Wasn't federation fixed in 19.1? Or has another critical bug popped up
