  • Not one of the downvoters, but the P1S is very expensive for a 1st printer IMO.

Bambu themselves offer the much lower priced A1 and A1 mini printers, which would probably be a better suggestion here despite them being bedslingers.

I'm not really a Bambu fan myself given the proprietary nature of their hardware, but they have the market pretty much cornered for the lowest priced, multi-material printers

  • Oh really? Must have announced that since I stopped watching LMG. She (they?) are still on the show?

Not the OCer, but the last time I saw Emily was in a video posted to their personal channel. I stopped watching LTT a while ago so no idea if there's been any presence in videos since then.

Kind of miss the linux videos and more in-depth tech content. And some of the other interesting personalities like Luke, Riley, Jake etc.

The thing with LTT is, on top of the well known controversies, LTT's current production themes aren't of much interest to me personally, not helped by the PC hardware market being so stagnant. Instead of upgrading my ancient 1060, I opted to purchase a Steam Deck instead - mainly because it runs Linux, supports Steam Input, supports charge limiting on the internal BMS, and given Valve's track record with obsolete devices (my two Steam Link boxes still recieve updates, and they were discontinued years ago) I was pretty firmly sold.

The games that won't work on my Deck are games that I wouldn't purchase anyway (Not a fan of DRM), and every single "unsupported" game that I've been interested in so far has worked just fine under Proton-GE. One demo game didn't support the Deck's 1280x800 resolution, so I just changed the Gamescope virtual resolution to 1080p in Steam's game settings, and that solved it.

  • This just screams greed IMO.

Sony (Aniplex), the owner of Funimation (and new owner of Crunchyroll), who actually produced and holds the rights to most of Funimation's library via their partnership with a Japan-based subsidiary, are choosing to revoke your access to your media.

Funny thing is they merged in 2021, not sure why it was an issue running the two separate sites until now.

  • Haven't (yet) looked at the code repo to see if it already takes into account my suggestion:

Would be nice to also utilize account age, ghosting (liked posts, followed communities etc) and instance reputation (fediseer) so dormant accounts and troll/farming/repost bots a la Reddit are recognized and handled as appropriate

The ideal solution would probably be data driven, thanks to the existing Lemmy database it should be possible... would be an absolutely massive undertaking I think though.

  • That was the cleanest and most curated movie site I have ever come across, honestly a big loss to have them gone. Consistent naming scheme, amazing torrent video quality (unlike low bitrate YTS), icons/logos to show what medium the rip was from. Literal gold

  • Thank you for the transparency! Much appreciation to the volunteers who have had to unfortunately handle this.

That being said we would like input in what image sites we will be whitelisting

Although I am from another instance I did want to suggest some common hosts, while I use Imgbox personally I often see Imgur and Catbox used quite a bit.

Catbox actually appears to actually be a generic temporary file host though, rather than a dedicated image host

  • If you want wireless, Logitech's MX Master series support battery life reporting in linux OOTB, and shows a notification on the distros I use when the mouse battery is low.

You'll get exact battery percentage numbers by pairing via Bluetooth, at the expense of weaker encryption. If you use the Unifying dongle, you only get high/medium/low battery readings - but benefit from an encrypted connection.

You might be able to find the first version in stock somewhere for less than your budget. The new 2S and 3S are much more expensive sadly

  • Preventing any posting in general might be a bit too restrictive IMO. However I think new users, or users using VPNs probably should not be allowed to post images in general so freely.

I believe lemm.ee has a minimum account age limit before users can upload directly to the instance, and dbzer0 scans all user uploaded images for anything that could be questionable.

Perhaps there should be additional restrictions on stuff linking to images outside of lemmy? I blocked the domain within moments of it appearing on my feed, absolutely disgusting

  • I'm mostly in the same boat with supporting the creators, however I don't really like Google to be honest. I end up supporting creators outside the platform, such as via Patreon or by watching on Nebula. Most of my YT consumption is done via NewPipe, Piped and Freetube

There's a little part of me that likes the fact that YouTube is burning a hole in Google's finances tbh lol

  • I like that it isn't Pokemon, and doesn't tread lightly for younger audiences, which you typically get in games that use this "cutesy" art style.

To me, Palworld is a mix of Ark, Fortnite, Zelda BOTW, Satisfactory, and the best bits of other games that connect up just right to make a genuinely fun experience IMO. It's not the best graphically or from a UX perspective, but 50 hours in I can tell that the devs knew exactly what they wanted to do, and created something with a lot of unexpected depth that isn't noticeable in the early game stages.

The only thing really taken from Pokemon IMO is just the monster collecting aspect, and some very similar looking designs for the monsters, which to be honest I would have done the same looking at how much other stuff the game allows you to do, not to mention the endless animations that are unique to each individual monster in the game - faces included!

All in all, the game will feel like a unity project, especially for console/AAA gamers typically used to seeing a certain level of polish and gameplay design. Beneath the rough appearance are some devs that have produced something that is actually fun and engaging. Extremely stable too at release for an early access game, unlike most other "full" games that have released in recent times. A full gameplay loop is about 2 hours, and even then there is still a lot more to discover in game.

I feel there are going to be a bunch of clones popping up, but none are going to have the same impact without the same amount of effort put in, and attention to certain gameplay elements that Palworld just gets "fun" IMO.

The guns and flamethrowers are a nice meme and great for getting people interested, but they are not a key part of the gameplay at all. At it's core Palworld is a survival monster collector, with light automation thrown in: a genre that it's kind of created itself
